    Speedy Prep Towel

I have seen some marring after clay, but what I saw in the pictures and videos for this product seemed excessive. It looks like they are working on a less aggressive version, so others must think the same. I like the concept, but I don't think the execution is quite there yet.

    Speedy Prep Towel

From what I can see in the pictures and videos, it leaves behind a lot of fine scratches. I can't see that saving much time with the extra buffing you would have to do. I'm not a pro detailer, but as a customer, I would be upset at losing clearcoat so the detailer could save time.

    Review: CarPro PERL

On exterior trim and tires (used full strength) the appearance diminishes just as fast as other products I've used. However, looking at the way the water is beading, it looks like the protection is still there even after a couple of months of car washes.

    How i overcame waterspots today

The water is drying on the surface of the car throughout the washing process even if you attempt to keep the surface wet by rinsing the whole car after washing each panel. My best results have been achieved washing the car in the rain. My neighbors tend to pretend they don't see me as they...

    How i overcame waterspots today

Wacky, but it works. I used an Ortho garden sprayer set to a half ounce per gallon. After my last water only rinse, I quickly sprayed the ONR over the car. Using one towel to pick up the majority of water and another for the final wipe and dry. The car came out looking like it does after...

    How i overcame waterspots today

This sounds interesting. With the hard water here, I always end up with white dots all over the car which means a required trip around the car with QD after washing. Plus this may make for safer drying step in case of any airborne grit. I'm going to give it a try to see if it gets me to the...

    Optimum Car Wax

I used to feel the same way, then I got old and out of shape. After a day of cleaning down to the paint and correcting a few defects, a quick spray and wipe gets me back to the couch faster. I probably keep my car better protected since these are so easy to use, I do it once a month.

    Microfiber wash water

Vinegar can do a couple of things. Used in the rinse cycle, it helps get the excess soap out. I think it has something to do with softening the water. The reason people think it softens their towels is because leftover soap on the towel will make it feel stiff. The other thing it can do is...

    Vinyl Seat Maintenance

I use PERL mixed 1:5 as recommended. Spray directly on the surface or on a pad for those tight places. Wipe off. No need to go back later and wipe again. No greasy residue, low sheen and less slippery than other products I've used. It darkens a bit, but I can still tell I have a charcoal...

    Review: CarPro PERL

I gave PERL a try this weekend. Interior (1:5), MBTex, nice low sheen, dries quickly, not oily. Exterior (Full Strength), Tires, door, trunk and engine bay seals, rubber trim around windows, plastic body trim. Depending on the material, the amount of gloss varies and in all cases I was...

Products you use over and over and over

For a normal car wash: Optimum Car Wash (Much better than my old standby Z-7) Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush (Originally I thought this was too expensive, but its durability over other brushes I used in the past has shown that to be wrong.) Z buckets with grit guards (Same as AutoGeek...

Need Help with Wax residue reappearing after rain

First, I agree with the folks who think you are putting the wax on too thick. I live in JAX and have found that the only times that are good for extensive detail work is the spring and fall. Perfect temp and humidity levels. In the summer, you want to wash either very early in the morning as...

    Frustrated...permanent damage?

Ultimate Polish has a long working time, but the key is not to work it until it dries. In fact you want to wipe it off while it's still wet. The oils in the polish will cover a lot of sins, so some people recommend the IPA wipedown to check your work. In my opinion, if you are working on a...

    Dreaded Road Paint

I use a product called Lanka. It's actually made to level out touch-up paint that you dab into scratches and chips in your paint. It doesn't harm the OEM paint. Always test before using of course. I used it on a used car I purchased, so no telling how long the paint had been on it. It...

    what to use?

If you want something quick and easy, start out with a clay bar on the rough areas. Mothers, Meguiars or Clay Magic kits are easy to find in local stores. Follow that up with a cleaner wax. It can be applied by hand. (I think some of the clay kits include a small bottle with them.) To keep...

witch wheel cleaner do you use?

When I purchased my Mercedes, there were huge patches of baked on brake dust on the inside of the wheels. The standard OTC wheel cleaners, polishes, and clay didn't make a dent in it. I read about this product called Brown Royal from this place out of Tampa and gave it a shot. I sprayed it...

Which one? Flex XC or PC 7424?

I purchased my PC about 8 years ago and I understand the new ones are even better. It has served me well and even though I recently purchased the FLEX, it continues to be used with 4" pads to hit areas the bigger pads aren't recommended. While the FLEX is faster, having to do the tight areas...

How to hide swirlmarks on dark car?

I recently purchased a used dark red mercedes and after a couple of washes to take the "beauty wax" that the dealer put on it off, I was left thinking that the previous owner had washed the vehicle with a rock. So far I've only done one panel, but I found that the combo of Meguiars SwirlX...
