I am planing a move to San Diego or possibly Los Angeles. Time will be in october. Where depends on a few factors. But if anyone knows of any detail shops, dealerships, body shops etc. that are in need of a detailer, any leads I would appreciate! Advice is also greatly appreciated. Thanks Matt

2012 Camaro - First experience with a dealership

I work at a used dealership, its really unfortunate because dealerships don't want to spend the money to get cars properly detailed (if the local detail shops even knew how) They expect 100-150$ details, and the detail shops just do a one step product because anything more and they would loose...

    Strange detail request...Bathtub.

I haven't seen it, I would hope he just wants the surrounding areas done. You wouldn't want to do the floor of the tub right?

    Strange detail request...Bathtub.

So today I got a call with a request to polish a bathtub. <- I know right? Im pretty sure the tub is fiberglass and has a gel coat finish like most do.. So could you treat this like polishing gel coats on fiberglass boats? Any input?

Ready for a rotary...your opinions please

I too recommend the Hitachi SP18VA. I just purchased mine recently and I really like the lighter weight and design. They are pretty similar designs and weight. The Hitachi has a 5 year warranty, and the makita only has a 1 year. On amazon it was only 157. Just my .02 cents.

    02 infiniti I35

Thanks mike! I did notice some were side by side if your window wasn't maximized. Carpets are my favorite part of the interior. (At least when they aren't gross.) In my opinion carpet patterns scream clean and present well to the customer.

    02 infiniti I35

This was a very well taken care of i35. Garage kept, only 40k miles. Never the less still normal swirls for a black car. Process: Wash Clean Wheels Datona Speed Master Clay griots (not much areas needed ) All trim and areas taped off ( I like to do some while I go - like door trim ) Step 1...

    Am I a hack?

To be safe, I think I am going to go over it with a fine polish, since theoretically the carnuba glaze does nothing to refine that. BorisC- As i said in my first post#3 was not strong enough, car wash scratches still very noticeable and swirls still present after doing slow multiple section...

    Am I a hack?

Thanks guys, basically xmt #4 is as heavy as m105. Will I have inflicted haze and marring from not finishing it down with #2 or another fine polish? I got confused with the glaze and thought I could use it as a final polish. Now I understand them..He wants me to go over the trunk by the liscenes...

    Re hologram free paint

BUMP straight to the point. Can a DA with appropriate pad and product actually fix the holograms of a rotary? As in - Do a test panel, strip it, and have a hologram free panel? Would a 5.5 inch MF pad,yellow/orange foam or wool pad be most effective for the most correcting? Which one of...

    Re hologram free paint

I decided to make a new post since it was a few days old and is unrelated somewhat. I work at an used car lot. Every car that gets sent back from our detail shop has bad holograms and swirls. I don't know for sure for every car, but from what I have seen, they do some sort of one step product...

In the market for a cheap, dependable steam cleaner

My uncle gave me a minuteman gotcha, its portable spotter 50psi and although it doesn't heat the water, if you put hot water in, it will stay hot and it really works great for me so far. He picked it up at a local pawn shop for 250, and they run 1100+ new.

    Help choosing the right products

Hey I'm new to the forum here and I'm still learning a lot about detailing. I do detailing for my work, a used car lot, and on the side just recently. I have a 7424xp, and most of my detailing supplies I get from a local detailing supply company, the same ones we use at work. 1. I made the...
