    how to clean leather

There is no need to have many different cleaners for leather but it is important to understand what is a cleaning problem and when it becomes a restoration one. Leather that is uncared for and allowed to get dirty will at some point need restoration as the dirt will damage the pigment coating...

optimum leather protectant vs 303 aerospace protectant

There are many products on the market that claim to protect leather against stains etc but very few of them actually work, particulalry on unfinished leather. The protection value is fairly simple to test if you are unsure which work and which don't. Wax and oil based products should be...

optimum leather protectant vs 303 aerospace protectant

Correct in stating that 303 does not work on uncoated leather (in our tests this proved to be the case). Uncoated leather needs a very good quality leather protector to be of any good against stains and body oils both of which create problems on this type of leather. Whilst most auto leather...

Help!! Purchased a repo and leather is...

I understand what you are saying , however, we have seen much damage done even on car seats by some hairsprays so it is much safer to advise against its use. Whilst in some cases it can work (due to the alcohol content) successfully it is an unknown product in many cases so unless you are a...

Help!! Purchased a repo and leather is...

Removing ink stains from leather is not a cleaning problem. Most ink removal products will not work simply because of the length of time the ink has been on the leather. Ink is a dye and has re-coloured the leather (this is what it is meant to do). The longer the ink has been on the leather the...

Leather Master's Strong vs Soft Cleaner

Strong Cleaner is perfectly safe to use on Auto leather. It is the stronger of the 2 cleaners and will be effective on pale coloured leathers - however if you are also using the Leather Protect on a regular basis you may find that the Soft Cleaner can be used as a sort of maintenance cleaner -...

Opinions on using APC to clean leather??

'Toothbrushes' are great (if a little small!!) for cleaning as the bristles are stiff which is what is required. There is no need to spend a fortune on special brushes. I use a slightly bigger brush (a dish washing brush) my last one cost me 0.18p from the supermarket and has cleaned many...

    Suede…

Real Suede or Nubuck is extremely rare in cars - I have only ever seen it used in Maybachs or in the odd custom spec car. Alcantara and the fake suedes are very good these days and many people are fooled by them. As we do not recommend any wet cleaning processes on suede/nubuck if you clean...

    I need a Leather cleaner !

I only ever use a dish brush from the local supermarket (try to find one where the bristles are flat rather then rounded) Ikea also do a good one. No need to spend a lot of money. Remember to use it gently and it will be fine.

    I need a Leather cleaner !

Cleaning very dirty and ingrained leather is as much about understanding leather cleaning and the techniques to use as it is about the product that you use. It is far safer to use a dedicated leather cleaner as long as it has been tested correctly as using other types of cleaner may appear to...

Opinions on using APC to clean leather??

'Top coats' on leather are pigments and clear coat finishes - 'Scotchgard' type products are topical protectors and these are not applied during the manufacturing process. Topical applied protectors do wear off with use and need to be reapplied, they are used to protect the finishes on leather...

Opinions on using APC to clean leather??

Opinions on using APC to clean leather??

No oils are stripped from the leather during the cleaning process and so do not need replacing - it would be impossible to replace oils into leather with these type of products. They are designed for saddles etc which require them for different reasons and should never be used on finished leather.
