    Meguiars APC Problems

I don't know the PH number for this, but ONR at 1:256 or 1:128 works well for interiors. Same with N-914. For light to medium interior jobs either one of those products are what I use. Soak a few microfiber towels in a solution at the above ratio, wring one out pretty firmly and then use it to...

What do you use to protect windshield wiper arms?

For arms that are smooth metal and painted black I use a spray sealant or the same coating that is used on the paintwork. C2v3, Reload, Bead Maker and CSL come to mind. For arms that are textured plastic, like on my wife's car, I've used Solution Finish, WETS, and various trim/rubber dressings...

what make of car & how many miles do you have (pt.2)?

I have a 2016 Challenger Scat Pack with 17,000 miles. I bought it new in February of 2016 and now I'm considering trading it in for a Challenger Hellcat sometime this year. One of the things that keeps bothering me is the hydraulic steering in the Hellcat over the electric assisted steering in...

Griots Correcting cream turned into water?

I'm still on my first bottle of Correcting Cream (without the new logo that has a dark oval in the background) because I rarely have a use for it, but it is still as thick as it was when I first received it. Most of the time it is stored on a desk in my office. I've been through maybe six or...

Review - Sonax CC36 Ceramic Coating

Sorry, I clicked on the "like" button and somehow it did a "dislike." That was not intended. I'm not sure why "dislike" is even an option. Thank you for the update. It's great to see that the side that hasn't had a topper is still doing well after all this time.

New addition to the shop. Quickjack 7000!!!

Thank you for sharing! Seeing it in use is very helpful! :) I looked into getting one of these in 2016. I called QuickJack and spoke to a gal who was very nice and helpful. One fact gave me pause - they only provide a one-year warranty and there is no way to extend it. If I recall correctly...

    Metrovac Blaster Master Revolution?

From my experience with my black car and other dark cars, if you use a blower to dry leftover liquid on a panel after doing a rinseless wash the water will evaporate and whatever is left (polymers, gloss agents, dissolved solids, whatever else) will remain, and it's usually unsightly. So if...

Some off label product testing on plastic trim..

I used the old version of the McKee's paint coating on pebble trim a lot of times and it always did a great job. None of the cars were in bad shape and so the trim already looked fine. An alcohol wipe does wonders for trim prior to the coating (sometimes several alcohol applications), and I...

    Interior Protectant

McKee's 37 Fast Interior Detailer is amazing. It cleans well and, if memory serves, it adds a tiny bit of protection. The smell is incredible - it's not like food - it just smells like manly Heaven. It's addictive! Every one of my "car guy" customers loves the smell of it too. McKee?s 37 FAST...

    Megs super degreaser question

Super Degreaser performs well and its dilution ratios are great. If the smell doesn't affect you then I'm sure you'll enjoy using it and get great results too. I used to use it pretty often but the scent of the stuff takes my breath away and causes coughs. Once I started using Optimum Power...

Name something you wish you would’ve bought sooner...

The Griot's PFM drying towels. I bought them as soon as they came out, but I wish they came out a long time ago. Also, GTechniq's CSL is so easy to apply and remove it makes wonder why I took so long to start using it.

Help with new BLACK Dodge Challenger

Every Pitch Black Challenger I've worked on, including my own, has soft clear coat. The old Brilliant Black and the newer Phantom Black (same color, different name) is medium hardness, based off of my experience. Pitch Black has no pearlized effect. Brilliant and Phantom Black do have pearlized...

Maintaining a coated Hellcat w/ Matte Hood???

Oftentimes the Mopars I work on have matte vinyl graphics and I've never seen a "topper" product (like C2v3 or Reload) or a coating (like CSL and CQuartz) do anything but make them look better and provide protection. The matte paint on Hellcat hoods is different than thin vinyl (there's more...

Maintaining a coated Hellcat w/ Matte Hood???

If you're worried that a product you're using is going to spoil the matte surface then you can open the hood and leave it up while you work on the fenders and front bumper. If overspray in the engine bay is a worry then you can bunch up some towels around the perimeter. Nick says that Hydro...

    How to destroy your paint

I can't believe people actually like YouTube personalities like this. How many people on YouTube are on drugs? All of them? :nomore:

A pair of Hellcats---soft, med or hard paint?

Consider McKee's Coating Prep Polish for a vehicle that doesn't need any sort of correction. It will at least clean the paintwork of any sort of embedded dirt and get it ready for a coating. I'd still follow it up with paint rep like an IPA mixture (whatever is your preference) and then you'll...

    My BMW 328I 2014 - Engine Bay

Using a standard rinseless wash is sufficient for engine bays that are dusty and victim to only superficial dirt. I used Mckee's 37 N-914, a variety of brushes and a few microfiber towels on this Challenger and the result came out great and it didn't take long at all. CarPro Perl at 1:3 (it may...

A pair of Hellcats---soft, med or hard paint?

Sublime Green and Plumb Crazy Purple are not soft. They're medium hardness. You may need to work a at any sort of defects just a bit more than on something as soft as Pitch Black. If the Rupes polish doesn't do the deed don't be worried about stepping up the aggressiveness.

A pair of Hellcats---soft, med or hard paint?

    1. Rinseless wash with your preferred product. I primarily use N-914, D114 and ONR. 2. Decontaminate with Pinnacle ultra fine clay. This does a great job on Mopars that are well maintained. 3. Polish with M205 and a white polishing pad. This will remove minor defects, especially with the color...

LSN Auto Detail - 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT-8

Great job! Torred is a beautiful color and looks amazing when it is finished properly. It's what I want for my second Challenger. Doing the polishing step with an all-in-one is definitley helpful to save time. I've used Griot's Garage Fast Correcting Cream followed up with their Finishing...
