    Body shop safe products...

A ton of products say "body shop safe" and are "silicone free" on the bottle or on their web page on Auto Geek. Which products are you thinking about using? What kind of job are you going to do to the wheels?

    Compound with a perfecting pad?

Mixing and matching pads and abrasives is common practice. You definitely didn't do anything wrong.

    Stripping Collinite Fleet Wax

I also suggest that polishing it off is a good idea. It may be the most expeditious way to remove the protection. Additionally, if you want to apply Optimum Gloss Coat you will have to remove whatever oils are left on the surface, which means using a panel wipe/paint prep type of product. You...

    check past orders

If you do an order over the phone it doesn't show up on the web page. Last year I asked a customer service representative at Auto Geek about this and he said that when they submit the order it bypasses the front-end system that we customers use.

How to avoid scratching the paint while clay barring

Everyone has a different expectation of what is acceptable. Going from clay to applying protection is common practice for a lot of folks, especially if it is their personal vehicle. I do not mechanically decontaminate paintwork unless I am going to perform some sort of refinishing. If a customer...

2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack - Black- *Soft Paint*

Pitch Black (no metallic effect) has always been and continues to be softer than the old pearl Brilliant Black and the current pearl Phantom Black. Surprisingly I don't get a lot of Pitch Black Mopars, but quite a few Brilliant Black and Phantom Black Challengers, Chargers and 300s make their...

Ok, who else has jammed their fingers in the 3401?

Are you talking about the exposed metal housing? I used to accidentally touch it while using the tool. I think after so many hours of using the machine I've built muscle memory to stay far away from that area.

    What are you listening to...?

I'm grooving to the concert recording from Amsterdam in 1983 of "Heaven and Hell" by Dio. I'm watching the whole concert for the hundredth time.

4 way tire cleaner showdown - via waterless

It's neat to see that the Mother's product did so well. I'm a complete convert to McKee's 37 Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator and this year it has been the only tire cleaner that I used. I'm running low so another couple gallons will have to be ordered soon. D114 and N914 make for good maintenance...

♫♫ I'm in love with a.. ♫♫ Challenger! What were you thinking?!

Congratulations on a beautiful Challenger! Mopar or no car! Are you mayhaps located in north Texas? If so there's a Mopar club that I would like to talk to you about. :) Here is a recent picture of my Scat Pack. I dreamed about owning a 392 since Dodge introduced it in 2011. I agree. There...

McKees 37 Hi Def Paint Sealant

Great review! The new McKee's sealant is very nice. I let it sit for about 15 hours on my car the first time I used it and it was still very easy to remove. You've got me interested in using the product again but I don't have a test subject. You and I both! I'm moving into an apartment next...

    CarPro Reload smell

I've been through a sample bottle of Reload and I'm making my way through a 500ml bottle of now. I think about 95% of the detailing products that I use smell absolutely awful and end up wearing a chemical odor mask more often than not, but I've never thought that Reload smelled bad. If one puts...

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

My Mopar club went on a little road trip to a casino in Oklahoma last Saturday. A few days prior I cleaned up my Scat Pack. We took a pitstop about midway through the drive and I got a picture of my Challenger before the sun went down. This car is my baby and I treat it accordingly. :)

    Who cares about Wheels?

I see this constantly and it drives me nuts. When I spot a car with neglected wheels my mind begins to wonder about what is required to get them back to better condition. I really like cleaning super dirty wheels because the result is oftentimes very noticeable.

    SEMA 2017 New 2018 Products

Agreed. The Griot's Black Shine dressing is way, way too glossy for a few days and then it starts to tone down. After a week or so it looks pretty nice. I stopped using it but it endured for three weeks every time I applied it. The final days saw it looking a bit dull, but no fooling I had at...

Some inital thoughts on Carpro new Clear Cut Compound

I agree, it does seem unintuitive. Since the product seems so aggressive maybe the vendor accepts that leaving behind haze and an imperfect surface is unavoidable in various situations, so ending a series of passes with firm pressure may result in a more consistent finish than trying to finesse...

Keep Your Water Bottles Away from Everything Else

Who else has made or almost made this sort of mistake? I was working on a car and I was pretty tired. I needed to finish a bottle of water so I walked up to the table and grabbed the bottle, untwisted the cap and then at the last second I realized it was M205. Whew! From now on I'm keeping my...

    Biggest Pet-Peeves in Detailing?

Leaving rust on brake rotors. It is easy and quick to remove the stuff and ensures that the customer's wheels aren't tinted orange shortly after picking up their vehicle.
