    What is your second love?

Tons and tons of classic rock and metal. I am a die hard fan of Ronnie James Dio (Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell), Manowar, Savatage and Megadeth. Music is an extremely effective concentration aid and helps me to better perform solitary tasks such as painting, reading and...

    Compound/Polish Removal Towels

A few months ago I worked on a Challenger that held on to the compound and polish residue so strongly that I ended up using a towel dampened with D114 at 1:256 and it cut through the residue effortlessly. A second towel was used to remove leftover liquids. Since then I tested N914 and it works...

    Grit guards for wheel/tire bucket

I use a grit guard in my wheel bucket because it makes my brushes and mitt easier to reach - I don't have to stick my hand and arm all the way down to the bottom anymore. I also use the grit guard washboard in the bucket and it makes for even easier access because the tools rest in a more upward...

Favorite correction compound and polish duo?

Griot's Garage Fast Correcting Cream and Perfecting Cream are great. The newest bottle of Fast Correcting Cream that I have dusts way too much so I put a tiny bit of Perfecting Cream on the pad and it seems to reduce dusting by a bit.

alright .. really how do you wash a big suv in the sun

On vehicles that are very dirty I will pressure wash the majority of the "gunk" off and then do a rinseless wash starting from the top down and on the side of the car that receives the most sun light. A quality rinseless wash like ONR or McKee's N-914 is perfect for this. If extra care is...

Jescar Correcting Compound and Micro Finishing Polish - Top Shelf Abrasive Technology

I'm really, really looking forward to using the new Jescar compound and polish! There is an error on the Jescar Micro Finishing Polish page. "...but also a genuine paint polish that will leave your paint looking it’s best." The contraction "it's" is used instead of the possessive "its."

Can't Find A Decent Spray Bottle Trigger

I use tons of these. http://www.autogeek.net/hiouchresp6.html The spray pattern is "off" on maybe 25% of them, so I pick out the good ones to use with products that need a fine and consistent spray pattern (think spray wax). The sprayers are ergonomic and last a long time. One fun tidbit is...

Lake Country Force Hybrid Foam Pads New & Improved!

I just saw these on the "what's new" page and I'm so pleased! I recently bought 20 new Force pads, but when I need to replenish my stock I'll go straight to Auto Geek!

Review - Wheel Woolies Power Woolie 12X

Sometimes scrubbing with wheel woolies on really, really dirty barrels can take forever. Just recently I did a 2006 (or so) Dodge Ram that looked like its wheel barrels were never purposely cleaned. After much scrubbing and scrubbing, and using a few different (and strong) cleaners, the darn...

Bad bottle of Fast Correcting Cream

My first two bottles of Fast Correcting Cream were very thin in consistency. I thought this was great because it helped to prime microfiber pads and ensured easier coverage. I had a bit of dusting with non-Boss pads, but nothing unmanageable. My last two bottles of Fast Correcting Cream (the one...

    Water based tire dressing

The minimum I dilute Hyper Dressing is 1:4 for sidewalls and wheel wells. For engine bays I used to use 1:6 or 1:8, but last year I started using Opti-Bond at 1:1 and I like it a lot. Lately I've been using Wolfgang, Pinnacle and BlackFire dressings on my personal vehicle. The Wolfgang product...

    Favorite drying towel of 2017?

I use the 16x16 Griot's Garage PFM towels religiously. Nothing beats them! The 25x35 towel is great too, but haven't needed to use it in a while because the smaller towels work so well.

    New with Cquartz question

It really does sound like the coating's behavior is masked by whatever is left behind by Gold Class. The coating installation process that you described sounds okay and so I strongly doubt that any sort of permanent damage was done by a car soap. Cleaning the paintwork with a product that does...

McKee's 37 Polishing Pad Cleaner is.........

I've used almost a gallon of the McKee's spray-on pad cleaner and have nothing but good things to say about it. It works extremely well if you spray a pad as soon as you are done with it. Today I bought the Grit Guard pad washer so now I'll get to try out the McKee's powdered pad rejuvenator...

    D143?

I dilute at 1:2 and use it liberally on wheels, tires and wheels wells. Lately rinseless washing with McKee's N-914 at 1:32 and 1:256 (along with Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator) gets a lot of my attention for wheelwork, but it isn't as effective against built-up brake dust and dirt, especially for...

McKees 37 Paint Coating - Resistence to Scratches/Swirls

I echo Desertnate's comments and I'll add my own. Cleaning a car that was properly prepped and coated can be extremely easy. I have Mckee's 37 paint coating on the passenger's side of my Challenger and it is always quicker to clean and dry than the driver's side that has whatever wax or sealant...

First time rinseless wash, New convert inside!

Lately I've rinseless washed some pretty dirty wheels (nothing like caked on black brake dust though) and tires with McKee's Tire and Rubber Rejuvenator and McKee's N-914 (at 1:32). So far they've all come out great, but they were not fancy and expensive wheels - just stock wheels on daily...

Big blue vs PFM drying towel: anyone used both?

To echo what others say, I've never seen marring or any other kind of scratches with the PFM towels. I have both sizes of the grey towels, but over the past few months I've used the larger one less and less. Two 16x16 grey PFM towels is enough for a large vehicle. I keep six of them with me just...
