Polishing in the shade of your garage shouldn't cause any issues, but if you notice the polish drying quickly, a spritz of plain water will help the polish along through a full polishing cycle.

Well the HD version is handy if you're working in a home garage or similar space, then you won't need an extension cord at all. Back when I bought mine I selected the HD version for this reason.
