Tried some optimum products this weekend, and...

Thanks Chris for all of your info. I didn't have too much trouble taking the spray wax off, but I've heard it can be a bit tricky sometimes with streaking. If you try any of the other optimum products, let us know how you like 'em!! :)

    Mission Impossible or is it?

It's hard for me to tell, but is your scratch more of a scuff, and not a deep scratch? And it looks like it's on the plastic bumper, and not on painted metal, right? If so, what Mike said about using Ultimate Compound will work. I have recently used UC and a terry cloth towel (for extra...

Another AWESOME save by KC's. And I love your write-ups! They are so fun to read. I see how much hard work you put into that car, and I can really appreciate your skills. The car looks wonderful now! :dblthumb2: :dblthumb2: :dblthumb2:

    Cars that kill your motivation...

Adam and Jonathan, I have seen your work, and it's always top notch. You guys are some of the best detailiers around!! But you just don't know how badly the car was taken care of before you got it, so I know you will make it look 100% better than it is now. But if the paint is trashed, then...

First time polishing 2000 SUBARU OUTBACK

Awesome job!! :dblthumb2: You took pics that are way better than mine when I did my first paint correction. Keep up the good work!!

    wg 3.0 swirl remover system

I had great success with the WG products. I bought the WG system with my flex. I used it on a 1999 Camry XLE, and it did a great job of adding gloss to the paint, and cleaning up the swirls. Only deeper RIDS were left. Here are some pics of the results. I'm not very good with taking pics...

2003 sable 1 step and wax

Thanks. I see now...the lighter the car, the more "forgiving" the finish is. I'm sure she was very happy, even though you saw more swirls with your expert eye, she probably didn't, and she got what she paid for!! :)

2003 sable 1 step and wax

Nice job!!! :dblthumb2: Just a question, how well did you like the finish after using 105 + orange pad? I was wondering if you could do this for a 1-step polish, or do you always have to follow with 205 + white pad? Your results look great, BTW. Does it depend on the car?

    Review-Optimum No Rinse

I was really skeptical of using ONR at first, but now I see how safe it is, and I LOVE it! What a time-saver! And sometimes in the summer here in NC they will have water restrictions on car washing with a hose, so I can always wash the car with ONR and my 2 buckets with no problem! I'm glad...

    Product Review: Megs D151

Great review. Just one question...do you think this would finish down nicely if I use an orange CCS pad with the flex 3401? Or would I have to use a white pad?

The Secret to Removing Oxidation and Restoring a Show Car Finish to Antique Single Stage Paints

Thank you so much Mike. Now I have a step-by-step method spelled out for me! And you won't have to deal with me asking all those questions about single stage paint again!!

Did a one step polishing, and...

I would also like to see the answer to this question, since it looks like the CCS orange will leave micro-marring, which I don't want. I guess that means you should do one steps with a white pad. I read in a previous thread about 1 steps that Shawn at Sullys detailing likes the Tangerine pad...

Did a one step polishing, and...

So looks like Megs D151 keeps coming up as a favorite one step...I really need to look into that stuff... BTW, how well does the D151 finish with an orange CCS pad? Can it finish LSP ready? Or will it leave hazing that requires a second step with a finishing polish? The swirls I am trying to...

Did a one step polishing, and...

I just realized that "one step" means a cleaner, polish and wax all in one, and not a single polish topped with a wax per se. But when I detail the cars for my friends, I always want the most longevity I can get out of the LSP (because I only do it twice a yr), so the way I do one steps is just...

Did a one step polishing, and...

So I did a one step for a friend today on a white 2001 Ford Escort ZX2. I tried to use what I had on hand to do it with, and just for experimentation I used Megs Speed Glaze #80 for the polish. The paint seemed smooth for such an old car, and I didn't have a lot of time to spend on it because...

Diary of a newbie - first polishing experience

Hi ballfan, I'll let you know what I did, and what worked for me, but I'm sure the expert detailiers here have a better way to do this, and perhaps a more time-efficient way. This is just what made logical sense for me to do. When I was keeping track of the time, I tried to keep track of the...
