    Gas prices

I'd love to pay $4.15. This morning at Costco I was at $4.78 for 87 octane (So Cal).

    Yes, another water spot question

^^ Thanks! I just got some Meguiar's #6 cleaner/wax and I'll give that a try on a fine polishing pad first.

    Yes, another water spot question

It appears (from YT Product supplier) that FSE is best for removing water spots that may have just formed. It's not for spots that may have been on their for some time. I'm pretty much looking for a mild remover to start with. The FSI appears to be a remover/polish etc.

    Yes, another water spot question

Short Version: What should I be trying first, second and last? Long Version: After giving the Pilot its first wash and a closer examination several things came to light. Most concerning is some water spotting. Although I have not examined the paint with a bright light yet, the spotting is...

Damage free wheel removal - no marring sockets

Nevermind. I should have searched Google first for "non marring lugnut sockets". It appears they are a thing and I can buy them locally. D'oh!

Damage free wheel removal - no marring sockets

I've seen videos of people removing wheels on high-end cars and the sockets they use appear to have some sort of coating around the outside of the socket to prevent marring or scratching of the wheel. Are these actually a thing or are they just being dipped in a coating (DIY)? I'd really like...

gorgeous rich black tires....on a motorcycle?

I'm glad you've found a use for the Ultimate Black. I've tried using that on almost everything on a Honda and Cadillac and never had any success. I have never used or tried it on tires. Actually, I threw it away.

Graphene Pro coat 2.0 10-year coating.

If it stayed as nice as when first applied and only required a small amount of maintenance it would probably put a ton of detailers out of business! That means these guys are only going to be selling 1 bottle of this stuff every 10 years? Not a great business model.

    Anyone using a water broom?

Yeah, it's got me thinking about getting some PVC and making one myself. I'm wondering how you get the holes to spray in a cone pattern. I don't need anything fancy, just a little more water and pressure under the car.

    Foam Gun / foaming ?

Yeah, they're going to have to pry it from my cold dead hand. (Wait a minute, wrong forum)

    Anyone using a water broom?

Just wondering. I'm not as concerned about detailing the undercarriage as much as I would just like to knock down any dirt that might accumulate after a drive in the rain. I also think it might be handy to knock off some dirt that a hose from the top might miss. (Just thinking out loud)

    Foam Gun / foaming ?

I just received my foam gun (Blackfire) and I'm quite anxious to use it (except that it decided to rain today!). For my first use with this gun I plan on rinsing / foaming / contact wipe down and go from there. I may incorporate a rinse after the first foaming and then apply another layer...

Keeping stock brake calipers looking new?

Wheels will definitely come off. Not as OCD with the calipers as I am with other things. Just looking for the right formulation to keep them clean. I tried brake cleaner on come older calipers and used a pretty aggressive brush but it didn't seem to work.

Keeping stock brake calipers looking new?

I've played around with various brake cleaners and brushes on our older cars but I just don't seem to be able to get them looking fresh. I'm sure it has to do with the coatings (Stock, not painted) but I've always thought there has to be some way to keep that silver/grey coating looking new...

    Layering products on new finish?

I totally understand. I'm just going to go with what I know to start with and branch out as time goes by. As you probably know this can turn into one heck of a rabbit hole and I'm trying to keep my focus.

    Layering products on new finish?

I totally understand regarding the benefits of taking it to the next level and I appreciate the comment/info. I just don't feel like that's the direction I'd like to go right now. Spending an extra hour or 2 every 3 or 4 months does not seem that daunting to me right now. But who knows, I...

    Layering products on new finish?

Well, let me curb my enthusiasm a bit. It looks REALLY good. That should be a couple steps below "outstanding" LOL.

Applied product deterioration - Age or The Elements?

Thanks! I know it was a bit of a weird question and I probably already knew the answer but I was just sitting here thinking about it and wondering. I will be posting again in another thread as to my projected routine and suggestions for products. I'm just going to put it all together in 1...

Applied product deterioration - Age or The Elements?

I've noticed that a lot of products are touting their "life expectancy" i.e "This should last 6 months" etc. Are these estimates based on age or expected/average exposure to the elements? In other words, would the paint protectant break down over time regardless if the car is a garage queen...
