    First Compound/Polish Attempt: Chevy Silverado

I absolutely am! Thanks to many on here who took time to answer my questions, and for the massive amount of information available in general. So am I! Was definitely a lot of work, and I was getting some *seriously* strange looks from some of my neighbors (:buffing:). They're jealous now that...

    First Compound/Polish Attempt: Chevy Silverado

Thanks, Mike! I probably watched about 5 hrs of your videos before I thought I was ready. Was pretty nervous to take abrasives to my girl, but with you and the AGO gangs advice and wealth of information there was nothin to it!

    First Compound/Polish Attempt: Chevy Silverado

Hi everyone, Thanks to the information I gathered here I finally felt confident enough to try swirl removal on my 2011 Chevy Silverado. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any before shots, and I wasn't forward thinking enough to take any while I did this, but the vehicle was covered it what I...

    CG Product/Pad match up

I've noticed that's true, but unfortunately for now it's speaking a language I don't understand. I'm an Engineer. Have any slightly more objective measures? Thanks again fr the input and help you've provided so far.

    CG Product/Pad match up

Thanks for the video. In the almost two years(ish?) I've owned this vehicle I personally have waxed it twice, so about once a year. It always beads quite nicely after that, but definitely doesn't after several months of wear and tear. If it doesn't bead consistently without a fresh coat of wax...

    CG Product/Pad match up

I didn't. When I said the truck was one owner I meant "basically". I suppose the guy who had it a few months before I did may have done something to it? Or the dealer? How would I know? How would that affect my plan of attack for this upcoming week? Thanks for raising the question. I didn't do...

    CG Product/Pad match up

David, I'll give that a shot in a bit. Supposed I should get at least a little "real" work done tonight. I did wipe out my door jams and do all the black plastic on the vehicle already. Considering in my BAGO (Before AGO) life I admit to having sent her through maybe a dozen...

    CG Product/Pad match up

David, I'm rockin a flashlight and an iPhone, that's all I've got to work with at the moment. I tried to take shots where I had it focus on the light source. The paint in person honestly looks pretty much like these shots. Even a full round of V36, V38 with the pads we discussed isn't going to...

Now see, that's what I was thinking. Everything I kept reading was sun was best. I have a flashlight... and I have a truck sitting outside (night shift!). Be back in a few.

Does anyone have any opinions on the paint? I think it's in *reasonable* condition considering nothing has ever been done to it before. I know the orange peel is pretty horrendous. Luckily it doesn't seem to be bad on the hood and a few other "high visibility" panels, but it's horrendous on a...

Sounds good. I think you're talking me in to more pads. I can see how this QUICKLY becomes an expensive hobby.

    CG Product/Pad match up

4 pads is a little steep, as I can't *ever* see doing this for anyone but my personal vehicles. If I just have two, couldn't I just go inside and wash them and dry them off really well? Wouldn't be economical or time-efficient for you pro guys, but I only have to do this once.

    CG Product/Pad match up

Thanks everyone. This is really great information! I have ordered a second pad for every step. I have Meguiars quick detailer. That's a "pure" quick detailer, no? Attached are the best swirl shots and orange peel show I could get. Pure sun, zero alteration. I would say that in person they...

    CG Product/Pad match up

Blackhawk, So even using Mike's "clean it on the fly" or whatever that terry-cloth cleaning technique of his is called, I will need more pads for this project? Is there a specific step (like the V polishes I'm guessing) where I would need the most pads? I was given a lot of this stuff (though...

    CG Product/Pad match up

Now a question about the application. I've watched the CG videos for every product I have to use. Twice. I've watched a bunch of Mike's videos, and I've read just about everything I can. That said, I'm STILL terrified to take a power tool to my paint! But, from what I hear, doing it right...

Ok, I've got: V36 - Orange V38 - Gray IPA Washdown (10% mix from my research...) Blacklight - Red Butter Wet Wax - Black V07 - Spray then wipe w/ best/perfectly clean MF towels I think we've got a plan of attack here. I knew night shifts were good for something...
