    DA ticks?

I'd assume that's soft paint. I've ran into these issues with my go-to finishing pads on soft paint. Do you have another LSP to try? I will try various LSP'S before I cave in and go back to a pad that have some cut. Funny how paint finishes sometimes. On those super soft paints I use a glaze...

    How much?

No, this isn't exactly true. It doesn't matter how simply you post a service description, hourly rate, optioms, etc. Some People will still ask how much no matter what. This is what many people do. You could have a sign that says "all services are $100". And people will still ask "how much...

2010 Maserati Gran Turismo C detail!

Wow. That is IMPRESSIVE work. Can I ask what you did to stay away from the Convertible top with your polisher? Finesse, I know lol but did you protect it with anything?

BMW 335i with severe buffing damage

Here is the kicker, this happened in their body shop. They sent the vehicle to me for repairs lol. It's the 4th or 5th that is fresh from being hammered by a rotary for retail on their lot. I actually have another one to repair next week - except when the customer came back complaining, the...

    Moving on up

I've had a hard time moving on from my PC. The biggest problem I have is the cost of a Flex and then upgrading pads too. I have a shop so my investment would have to be $500 or more to have enough pads to last a while. I can tell you that experimenting with different pad types and compounds...

How would you solve it / Is there a solution?

I would try one of the trim 'dye' kits. I have also plasti-dipped trim that was destroyed, when a customer didn't want to spend the $$ on a dye kit.

    M105 & m205

UC with orange straight to UP with a black pad is a big leap. I didn't see what color your vehicle is, are you working under sun light or artificial lighting? I'm not sure you could get away with that big of a leap on a dark colored vehicle unless you're one of the lucky guys with natural...

BMW 335i with severe buffing damage

On the hood I used both my rotary and pcxp. Used the Dewalt and a white finishing pad with M105 at 1000rpm. Made quick work of the damage. I was able to jump to my PC with a blue Hex logic pad and a CG finishing polish. Topped it with ez creme glaze and CG butter wax. The remainder of the car I...

BMW 335i with severe buffing damage

Tonight's project was a dealer BMW 335i with severe buffing damage. It looked fresh so I suspect it came from their body shop and was sent out to me for repairs. The entire car was covered from top to bottom. It took about 9 hours to fix all the damage. The paint was actually in great shape...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Nick and vanev, thanks. Bit of a confidence boost from you guys. Things are going well and I refuse to under sell my capabilities right now. When business is good with my other company, the price is the price & service is exceptional. When business is slow, I will work on prices and offer the...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Car wash is included with interior. 2 guys will crank a wash and wash out in 15-20 mins, with wheels and dressings. Between 30-50 cars a week between dealers & walk ins.

3 can be cleaned at once, but it's a little uncomfortable if there is a truck involved.

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Have a contract with the largest dealer in the zip code.minimum 20 cars a week, with a few being buffed for MY going rate. 2 other dealers send several cars a week for interiors, with a lot of walk ins for interiors. It basically started by doing a free car for a dealer inside and a show worthy...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Interiors pay the rent and utilities, 3 full time employees and a healthy profit in a matter of 5 weeks. I keep the buffing profit separate, the buffing is nothing more than a supplement to profits. One 300 dollar buff means I made 300 minus materials, which I had plenty of before I went brick...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Thanks for the input guys. My walk ins know all about swirls. I've yet to run into someone interested in a polishing who was 100% uneducated. They seem to be aware, which has been good. I see the opportunity to sign them up. I never gave thought of a return free wash and wax a week or two...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Mobile is not an option because of location & this being a 2nd business for me. My primary business is much more lucrative financially. This is more for 'fun' and extra breathing room financially. The interior side is fantastic. It's a steady stream of $$ and repeat customers, new dealers, new...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

[/B] Then you need to let that business go and do your best to focus your marketing on what your shop does best and you can make the most money at. It may take some time and be a painful process but hopefully it will pay out in the long run. I have daily situations where I have to decide...
