How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

Amen to that. You can't sell or educate a potential customer who has no understanding or care about what swirl free concours level paint is. They don't care and they won't maintain it. You will continue to lose business at the medium level until you give them what they are looking for, a shiny...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

I have been in sales for 13 years. That is my primary busiess. Lol. These people are coming in asking about polishing. Anyone who inquires with questions seems to be a stroker and seems they've been to other shops first, so my rate or package price just immediately scares them off. I have done...

How to ease the shock from buffing costs to customer?

When I have walk ins, or schedule inspection appointments, I probably only close 25% of the deals. IMO, I am not doing a very good job with it. I'm personable, friendly, have my car/truck ready 100% of the time to show case my work, along with photos, Facebook albums, etc. However when I drop...

    2016 Subaru WRX STI

The only time I've had issues with pad velcro has been overworking them. I like to swap pads every panel and let them cool down. I have some 5.5" pads that are going on their 30th car. They are just starting to get beat up on the edges from hitting the odd emblem or two.

Honda CRV, cool color! All in One results for dealer

I was pleasantly surprised with its cut. It has the same consistency of M105 when you first squeeze on the pad. Itll tell you quickly if you're using too much just like a compound lol. Dealer was happy when they picked it up, I have a blue Tacoma to do Sunday morning that will get the AIO with...

Honda CRV, cool color! All in One results for dealer

It took roughly 5 hours with the AIO and spot compounding. Used compound below the door windows, as those were hammered. The AIO was successful in removing 100% of the swirls from only 1 complete working. I didn't quite believe my eyes, as Optimum Poli-Seal was the only AIO I've used and wasn't...

Honda CRV, cool color! All in One results for dealer

Majority of my business revolves around used cars for local dealers. A lot go to auction & fortunately my dealer has recognized the extra value they have at auction with more than a glaze on a hammered paint finish. However I often get "Front line" cars from the dealer & the it I get driving...

2011 BMW M3 - swirled and marred- Pinnacle Auto Detail - CT

That looks great. Did your customer stay for the entire detail, or did you do test spots, agree on expectations and they left?

    remove adhesive stuck to glass

Warm the area with a heat gun or blow dryer, only need a few seconds of heat and it will make scraping easier. If it's small area and you can tolerate the odor, Lil splash of ol 87 octane on a rag makes quick work of glue. I'd be a little nervous on the windshield but depending on your blood...

    06 GMC Black - wouldn't finish down.

Trust me, I'm glad it's gone! It really threw me off, after I solved that problem, I wasted a lot of time quadruple checking my work and went beyond what the customer paid for. I hate when something shakes me up and I end up being meticulous beyond what was billed. It's hard to move along some...

    06 GMC Black - wouldn't finish down.

Tons of lighting, I have my flourescent shops lights and I had 2,000 watts of halogens behind me. From every angle I could see the lines. It looked like very tight compounding haze lines. It looked like I was playing floor chess with my lights, I moved them all over, looked at the vehicle...

    06 GMC Black - wouldn't finish down.

No dry buff. Paint was about 2 weeks old, I've had amazing success with fresh paint. It's my preference to get a hold of vehicles fresh out of the booth. I managed to get a respectable finish with the M105 and white pad, customer accepted it and was pleased. Just a wild paint situation, I've...

    06 GMC Black - wouldn't finish down.

I did a 9 hour compound/polish on a very nice, low mileage 06 GMC last night. It recently received a fresh paint job from a very good shop in town. I figured the clear would be very soft & offered 2 pricing options, by the hour or a 7hr price. Anyway, only in a few spots did I have to use a...

    Porter Cable's ARE powerful.

I've had good success with MF pads. The only reason I've not used them on a regular basis has been maintenance. In my experience they are not easy to quickly clean. I am 100% open to trying another DA. The only other DA I have experience with is a Shurhold, which has solid cutting ability with...

    Porter Cable's ARE powerful.

Very cool to see others having solid success with their PC. Only about a month ago did I start having issues with my PC XP, she may be getting a touch tired but so far with that pad and compound combo are successful. I never has rotation issues with the 5.5 pads. I have with larger pads...

    Porter Cable's ARE powerful.

I would like to create a post to show and explain just how powerful a PC can be. I've read a lot, and see a lot of videos where the capabilities of a PC are said to be limited. Direct drive DA's are constantly reviewed as the cats behind and steps above the PC. Rotary polishers are the end...

Remove water spots without stripping sealant?

IMO, those water spots must be from acidic rain, meaning your sealant has been compromised. The rain in my area is very acidic, lucky to get 2 weeks of no etching with wax, have yet to find a sealant to withstand it more than a month. Those spots are LARGE, so I'd go as far to say your sealant...

Odd situation - extremely sticky paint? Pads squeeling, hopping...then POOF.

OEM paint. 2007, Red Ford Expedition. Didn't look or feel different from any other part of the vehicle. Does it have to be #7 or would another glaze work?

Odd situation - extremely sticky paint? Pads squeeling, hopping...then POOF.

Should mention the panels never got hot, or more than slightly warm. Shop temp was about 65 degrees. Also the polish residue was almost impossible to remove by microfiber but could wipe it off using a dry finger??
