Heat & humidity messing with compounds?

I used to work in an air conditioned garage. Now I'm working in a hot, stinky garage with no air conditioning. I've had some issues with compound turning to dust almost immediately. But my bottle of compound did sit overnight and early afternoon in an extremely hot car. Is this typical...

2010 Brilliant Black Audi S4 - All Shine Detailing

Car came from Massachusetts? Yikes. That is where I am. That car would be the best looking finish I've ever laid my hands on to start with... These New England cars are just...trashed. Came out awesome! I hate working on black paint, but I love watching them drive away after I've had my paws...

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

Awesome. The thought of not murdering pads every other day is nice. One downside is the trigger. I felt a need to death squeeze it and really tired my hand out.

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

One thing I did constantly was check the temperature of the area I was working on. I don't recall feeling any heat. Another thing I like is the quality of the pads. The backing seems much more rigid & durable than the pads available for a pc. Sometimes just peeling a pad off, I would ruin or...

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

Dewalt came in and went right at it on a 07 540i. Previous holograms and existing swirls came out with Optimum polish II using the white LC pad! Unreal. Worked between 1000/1500 rpm or so. Took about 3 hours total. I left the rids in the finish but took everything else out. Very impressed...

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

Yikes. We'll see how it goes. PC tonight on a 2013 XTS that looked like it was washed with rocks took 7 hours. CCS yellow with Optimum compound, first pass generally eliminated most but not all. Took 3-4 complete apps to remove 90%. Working in a 2x2 area and progressing around the car took...

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

Awesome. I've had the opportunity to use the flex 3401. It was nice, the issue was time. In my experience it worked better in areas where a PC struggling with rotating. But for the mangled finishes I seem to run into, it's still too slow. I will likely use the rotary for first cut and finish...

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

Located in New England. Should have everything Friday. Some tutorials online recommend using light pressure, others say let the weight of the machine do the work. Which is it? :buffing:

Ever Do This To Your Pad?

I've done this multiple times. You are asking too much of your DA. Too much pressure & not enough patience. You might benefit from a yellow pad. If that continues happening, you probably don't have the patience for your machine and it may benefit you & your poor pads to upgrade to a rotary.

Moving from PC to DeWalt DWP849X after 9 years..advice and encouragement needed

I have been buffing for 9 years with a PC. I've loved the machine, even with its limitations. I can't explain how many black cars I have perfected over the years, including my own. I did a lot of experimenting and taking huge risks on cars that I look back on now and want to throw up thinking...
