    PC white pad question

Thanks! Yea I actually ripped it off the backing plate today and ended up finishing a job with that backing plate on a meg. Soft buff yellow pad because I ended up leaving the correct plate at another job. I used the white pad I cut off into a 3 inch disk(several) to polish out a bunch of...

    PC white pad question

Thanks! I actually went out in the garage with it and tested it on my Honda. The color of the Honda is the infamous nighthawk black pearl. I primed it and used some 205 on an area I just got done cutting with my Makita. 5 passes and it polished out well enough for my LSP. On a clients car I...

    PC white pad question

Heres a quick question for you PC guru's. I picked one up to try out as I have always done my compounding and polishing via rotary buffer and LSP by hand. Thought the PC may speed my process up allowing me to work more...anyways The white polish pad that came with the porter cable... What did...

Our Best Gel-Coat Turn Around EVER! Boat Detailing - B & B Detailing - Nashville TN

B&b can I ask you your method for getting the gelcoats so smoothe? Did you sand(wet, damp)? If so what sander and discs did you use? I just finished a boat and although I am happy with the results, it does not look that nice. It could be the boat though. The one I just finished is a 93 and I...

Stop with the sales already. You guys are killing me! ;)

Then I agree with you there. However I don't have anyone local besides the auto part stores and wal Mary, lowes, etc. there is nowhere to buy local pads or tools which is odd. Best thing I have found local is harbor freight sells the sm Arnold yellow pads for a decent price

Stop with the sales already. You guys are killing me! ;)

The 10% off anything plus free shipping was pretty nice. I didnt buy anything becuase I dont need anything at the moment, but I will be buying a Flex pretty soon and that would have been a nice chunk off the total price.

any Tips for working with black Honda paint

FWIW I use a rotary too, not a DA. In some of the pictures you can see me getting at it with the rotary. Anyways, I have only had to use 105 for serious spots on the car, One of which you can see in that picture album, and even then the scratches were beyond repair without touching it up.

any Tips for working with black Honda paint

I own a 2003 Civic of the same color. IMO product wise you look good. Are you using a DA or rotary? My best advice is to take whatever you think is going to be the proper technique and tone it down one step. It is one of my least favorite paint's to work with but is very pretty once it is...

How did you get into detailing?

Congrats man! I celebrated my one year back in Jan. I can absolutely relate to you about jumping into everything alcoholicly. I always thought that "mental obsession" thing was a bunch of BS until I realized that I am absolutely obsess over the craziest stuff. Like today....I spent 6...

Our Best Gel-Coat Turn Around EVER! Boat Detailing - B & B Detailing - Nashville TN

If you want mediocre results.... I agree with B&B. The only thing that's going to work on a gel coat in poor condition is a rotary. I am detailing a boat right now for a client and My Makita rotary with a wull pad, is the only thing making a noticeable difference. I started with 105/205...

First large job, a few questions

for the inside, I used my APC of choice....kind of a custom mixture if you will, and a scotch brite.....and lots of elbow grease...For the hard to reach areas I used a Black and Decker Mouse with the wull pad on the bottom(I use this alot on vinyl surfaces such as the insides of a boat) The only...

First large job, a few questions

this picture is taken from the same oxidized spot on the rear corner of the boat as the one above. This is after 205/105, KAIO, and Mirror Glaze no. 7(let cure for 45 minutes then wipe off). This was my test area. I am pretty satisfied with the result of this...still not sure what sealant...

First large job, a few questions

OK Autogeekers. I have landed my first "big" job. My client has agreed upon my hourly rate(30/hr) for detailing his boat. He is trying to sell it quick and wants me to do what I can with it for a quick sale. For a little background, this is not my first client, but he is a referral whom...
