Quality of a Microfiber Towel, How do you tell ?

I've bought 2 of those $5 packs at Walmart. They work great for drying wheels and getting smudges off trim/chrome, but that's all I use them for. I don't even like using them on my windows as they're too flimsy and thin for my taste. They're not even really that great for an emergency QD kit...

Nothing special, just wanted to post some pics

Agreed, great photos of some less than popular detailing areas. You've really made something often overlooked, such as the trunk hydraulics and hoses, a real treat in these photos. And thanks for making me feel better about having 90k miles on my 04 Sonata :xyxthumbs:

How’s the economy affecting the detailing industry?

Well, basic Economics states that if incomes go down (and/or unemployment goes up) then demand for services (like detailing) goes down as well. The idea is to keep marketing to households with a high enough income that they're still willing to pay for your services.

    Meguiars Engine Kote

Unless someone chimes in as to why you shouldn't use Megs Ultimate Protectant on hoses, I'll have to recommend it. I did my engine bay at the beginning of the summer and it still looks like the day I applied it. That includes a daily drive through a gravel yard, too :xyxthumbs: It is a bit more...

Here's a tip... don't lift the pad off the paint till you've turned the polisher off and the spinning pad has slowed down...

Thanks for clearing that up, haven't actually had the pleasure of using the 105/205 combo yet.

What do you use for wheels...?

I've had good success with DP's Cleanse All Exterior Cleaner. I have a 6 year old car and I never paid much attention to the back inside of the wheel, but going at it with that product cleaned it up pretty well. I would definitely recommend it over DP's Gel Wheel Cleaner, not nearly as powerful IMO.

Huh I thought M105/205 used non-diminishing abrasives. Anyways, even with something like Ultimate Compound I noticed a bit of sling off when I would raise my rotary off a bit early. Nothing like that pic though, good demonstrative image to burn this technique in! :dblthumb2:

Wow thanks for the kind offer. I was going to take you up on it but just to clarify the offer is good for the actual polisher system? I called you guys up but your sales rep informed me no free shipping offers are good on polishers, which she confirmed with you over the phone. I appreciate the...

    Contents of PC 7424XP Box

Wow I'm really amazed that the 7424 is so barebones right out of the box, no wonder for all these great kits AG sells. I may have to rethink my ordering strategy here and pony up the cash for the shipping.

Really, no backing plate? So that white pad that is included actually screws in? I'm not sure my shipping would qualify for a price match, as it's actually a prepaid shipping rate ($80/year) although I actually got it for free because I'm a student.

Hi there, I decided this week would be the week I take the plunge and get me a DA. Unfortunately, that's one week too late to take advantage of AG's excellent Labor Day sale. So to make sure I get my supplies in time to use this weekend, I may have to pick up a 7424XP from a site that offers me...

    DP Wheel Glaze

Yeah I just tried this stuff this weekend after ordering it on BOGO. Cleaned the wheels with DP Cleanse All, agitated, then went to apply the Wheel Glaze. I learned the hard way to apply it super thin, but once I learned that I was able to fly and have my wheels cleaned and glazed in less than...

Where do you detail if you live in an apartment?

For weekly washes I use ONR with water I fill from my tub spout, and I'm fortunate enough to live in a big complex with plenty of open "guest" parking spots so I can have room to move around. As for more serious detailing, such that it requires water and electric hookup, again I'm fortunate...
