Proof You Can Do It! - Joe The Detailer - Black Porsche Turned into Black Pearl!

Well done. That's how black should look. On a side note, I need that cart, just with a bigger shelf on top.

Which auto shampoo should I get?

I use Chemical Guys Glossworkz for maintenance washing almost exclusively these days. I do have a soft spot for Optimum Car Wash though. Smells like blueberries, thick suds, good lubricity, and only $12 for a 32oz. I use 2oz to 3 gallons of water. 16 washes for $12 isn't bad at all. AG offers so...

    Washing after polishing

I always give the car a thorough wash before applying LSP. :iagree:

    Sealant Rates

Same. Now that I think about it, a good 90% of the time I'd rather be applying a sealant. The idea of hand-waxing the Marauder I've got booked this weekend is already making my arm tired. The car looks about 70ft long. :(

    DA sequence question

On a multi-step correction finish an entire step (compound, polish, jeweling) give the car a finalt IPA wipedown (ideally you should do this after your finished with that step on every panel) then move on to the next step in the process. I like to keep my workspace clean. I'll have various...

How long does it usually take you guys?

For a 1 step I ask my clients to allow for 5-8 hours, depending on the size and condition of the vehicle in question. Exterior only of course. I have had certain cars take longer, a C5 Z06 that was covered in overspray took me almost 3 hours to clay. Went through an entire 200g Clay Magic Red...

    Honda Pilot Engine Cleaning

I'd cover the alternator and fuse box (if it's under the hood anyway) just for peace of mind. Open filter elements go without saying. Normally I find that D103@3:1 is plenty strong enough unless you've got some serious buildup. I'm pretty sure Auto Zone sells some sort of aerosol degreaser...

How do you dry quickly enough?

CR Spotless is so good that the water is actually too pure to drink. They say so right on the instructions.

I think you can finish with M105...

Don't try to "finish" with 105. That's not doing a Z06 justice, or any car for that matter.

    Every weekend...

I wash all 3 of ours at least once a week. The Mustang gets an ONR midweek if needed. It's a hobby you enjoy. To hell with the neighbors.

Opinions needed on 2007 Mustang GT

Beautiful car man. Ive got an S197 myself. My recommendations: Wax - Dodo Juice Supernatural, Auto Glym HD Sealant - Menzerna Power Lock, Optimum Opti-Seal QD - FK425, ONR Spray Wax - Optimum Car Wax Microfiber - Chemical Guys "house brand", Cobra Pads - LC flats, Orange/Whites (or...

Opinions needed for which wax for this color

You don't see many 4 eye foxes about anymore, very, very nice. :dblthumb2: I need engine shots! For recommendations, Menzerna Power Lock if you're wanting a sealant base. High(er) end I'd look at Fuzion and Supernatural. $30-50 range I'd shoot for Auto Glym HD, CG Pete's 53, or CG 5050.

    Questions about "Gimmick" Pads ???

I've got a few Kompressor pads and a fair sized collection of CCS pads. Yes, they do work. As for why many people, myself included, opt for simple flat pads is personal preference. Flat pads simply feel better to me while polishing. I really don't know how to put it into words. More predictable...

The GG polisher is as good as the 3401?

Any of the DAs AG offers will be fine starting out. I've logged dozens of corrections on my Flex and dozens on dozens more with my original model PC7424 without an issue. They're all fine machines. What you need to look at is versatility. I've got all the bases covered between my Makita, Flex...

    Poorboy's World Air Freshener

I've got the cherry and vanilla versions. My female clients who's cars I do regular maintenance on love the stuff. CG Stripper Scent for my own car though. :dblthumb2:

    Need a recommendation on products

105/205 is a great combo. Look into Menzerna as well. SIP/PO203/106FA/85RD. Rarely do I use Power Gloss, but it's there when you need some serious cut. I switch between Megs and Menzerna all the time. Either way, you're getting great products.

    Gotta love flake

I wish I could say the same. We've had like 12 days of strait 70+ and sunny. Just yesterday I was sitting in traffic on University and saw a white GT500 that looked like he'd been muddin'. Being a Mustang owner myself (On my 4th to be exact. It's a disease.) I could have shed a tear. Well done...
