I say use a Speedmaster/Daytona barrel brush/wheel Woolies and get them clean as clean as you can, but don’t worry about keeping them perfect. Out of sight, out of mind. If it was a sporty wheel with exposed brake components and the barrel was easily visible, I’d say wheels off.

Regarding the lifting of clear coat with removal of old PPF. Why would your buddy be liable for the damage? I would definitely have customers sign a waiver that removal of old PPF could cause damage to underlying surfaces upon removal. Totally unreasonable for the PPF installer to pay for that...

^^^^ nice 50/50 ^^^^ I don’t think Lexol is a strong leather cleaner on seats, but it seems to work well on steering wheels. Extra soft toothbrushes work great for getting around stitching. Meguiar’s Quik interior detail gives the wheel a very nice feel. I think QID might add a hint of gloss...
