    Wheel wells

I usually just use Simple Green followed by the cheapest tire foam/spray I can find. I do this for the wheels, tires, and wheel wells. After the foam, I wash the rest of the car and be sure to spray off the wells and tires, then dress the tires when done.

    Best Clay?

There doesn't seem to be many topics on this by searching the forum. I have been using Megs OTC clay and it seems to work ok for me, but I am wondering if there is something else out there that is a better choice. My cars currently are pretty heavily contaminated from a 3600 mile cross country...

    Wash Me repair

In a perfect world, I would say go for that. However, to those that don't know detailing, it would be making a mountain out of a mole hill. His best course of action is just to fix it and go from there.

    Rear view mirrors

Aren't the mirrors just aids? From what I remember from Driver's Ed when I took it was this: SMOG Signal, Mirror, OVER THE SHOULDER, Go So the best way to solve that blind spot is to turn your head and check. Yes the mirror needs to barely have the side of the car in it so you can eliminate...

    '02 Camaro... Merry Christmas Dad

Thanks all. I was happy to do it for him. It's a lot of work but oh so relaxing to detail. Just you and the buffer and the car. Quite peaceful and relaxing.

    '02 Camaro... Merry Christmas Dad

Thanks!! Oh yea, forgot to add that. Will add that up there. But just used some Armor All Wheel Cleaner. Cut right through the junk. My dad had it laying around so I decided to use it since we were out of Simple Green. Used a full bottle of the stuff on the wheels. Dressed the wheels with...

    okay almost ready for order

Also, if you got the pad kit, if you don't like taking time to clean pads during a detail, have at least 4 of each pad you use. That way you can switch without worrying about having enough pads.

    Need Advice on Initial Purchase

I would get more CCS pads. You want at least 4 LC Orange, and 4 LC White. Then some blues are good for Applying Sealant or Jeweling. So more pads.

    '02 Camaro... Merry Christmas Dad

Well, since I had some time off as I am going between two commands (Navy) I was able to come home to Texas. Well, I decided to treat my dad's car (and my dad) to a 2 step polish. This car is a Daily Driver with 106K miles on it. My dad and I together spent 12 hours, so around 24 man-hours are...

    critique my process/thinking

If that paint needs more help, you could always grab this kit: Menzerna Complete Ceramic 5.5 Inch Polishing Pad Kit I am a fan of the 5.5" LC pads with a DA polisher. These pads have served me well. The Menzerna also gives you some good options for stubborn swirls/deeper scratches. There is...

    Residue under tape

You are correct CTS. It isn't the tape leaving the residue, but rather the polish that gets caught under the edge and dries. Trying to find an easy way to remove it without introducing swirls. Does DGPS stain trim? If not, I can use that step to remove the residue.

    Residue under tape

So what products would you recommend using with a pad to get that off? WG DGPS? 85rd? Which won't stain the trim?
