    Portable work light

The Husky single LED lamp is rated at 1720 lumens. Lowes just came out with one that is rated at 1000 lumens, but has greater adjustability. As far as positioning goes, you want to set it up so that you are looking into the reflection of the ligt on the panel you're working. Beyond that...

All backing plates are NOT created equally :-(

I should clarify a bit here... I am in no way knocking CG by saying they don't manufacture certain products. I think it's great that they are able to put their own name on different products. It makes a brand look cohesive. I just like to know where my products actually come from, not so I...

All backing plates are NOT created equally :-(

Those plates are another product that CG doesn't actually make. They are sold by almost every detailing supplier, including here at AG. That being said, they (referring to the generic version), are awesome backing plates, and one of my personal favorites! Used the ~3" and ~5" versions today...

    I need a new compound

FG 400 has been my go-to compound as well, but I have been trying out WG Uber, and that just might be the new champ. Too bad I can't buy it at a huge discount like I can FG 400...

All backing plates are NOT created equally :-(

Those CG MF pads are actually Buff & Shine microfiber pads. The reason I say this is so that you can find a B&S backing plate to use with them. IME, these pads don't play well with most other backing plates, though they're awesome on the FLEX 3401. Whenever possible, it's best to use backing...

    Portable work light

I use the Husky single LED light ($80), and have been very happy with it. A single light source does a better job of showing swirls and holograms. For halogen lights, be sure to plug it into a surge protector (NOT a power strip), preferably a dedicated, single outlet one. In my experience...

    *NEW* Lake Country Coating Applicator!

Well, the verdict is in... This weekend, my parents came down to visit, and I figured that, while they were down, I'd re-apply CarPro HydrO2 to my dad's car as it had been four months since it was initially applied. I washed, Iron-X snow foamed, clayed, and then applied Iron-X to the lower...

    First set of headlights

Right, the sealer made them look clear (or at least clearer in relation to how they looked before), kind of like how a glaze fills in swirls. I bet if you look closely or with the lights on, you'll see it. Just something to keep in mind for next time.

If you go with LC pads, get their backing plate. Likewise with the B&S pads.

need help selecting lake country ccs pad colors

If you're only using one compound, one polish, and one wax, then you really can't go wrong with any of the pads you mention. My opinion? Start with the hydrotechs, but don't be afraid to experiment with the others as you become more experienced.

Drying towel : cobra supreme guzzler or cobra guzzler hd?

I use both. The Guzzler HD for the first pass and the Guzzler (or another one of my waffle weaves) for what the HD misses and the tighter areas.

Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

Polishing isn't covered either under a detailing business policy. You'd have to, according to what they said, get a body shop policy.

Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

While I'd normally agree with you on this, when it comes to insurance, I think its important to be crystal clear as to exactly what it is you're doing so that you know what is and is not covered... Had I just explained it like you said above, I could have ended up with insurance that wasn't...
