Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

Actually, I just got off the phone with the agent, and found out something very interesting... They explained that their coverage of "detailing" includes washing the interior and exterior of the vehicle, and that any type of work to restore or improve the condition of the vehicle, such as...

    First set of headlights

Nice work!! The only thing I would add is to be absolutely certain that the headlights are crystal clear before putting any sort of sealant on them as any imperfections will be sealed in. I say this because you mentioned there was still some haze left over. I find that turning the headlights...

Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

But where does paint correction fall? I know that we all categorize it as "detailing", but the insurance company may categorize it differently. Maybe they think that detailing only involves cleaning, not correcting... Maybe they classify paint correction as paint/body work. I certainly hope...

Called For Insurance Quote - Can't Cover Me

I called my insurance company the other day to get a quote for business liability and garage keepers insurance. After contacting their underwriters to get more information, the agent called me back and said that, because I am home-based, they wouldn't cover any painting or paint-related work...

need help selecting lake country ccs pad colors

If you don't like the pockets on he CCS pads, go with the LC Flat Pads, which are essentially CCS pads without the pockets. Personally, I prefer a wider range of pads so that I can tailor the polish and pad combination to the vehicle I'm working on. Regardless of your pad choice, I suggest...

Turned down a client with Paint Spill

Just out of curiosity, would latex paint, which is water-soluble, really gum up the extractor? I could definitely see it with other types of paint. Either way, you have every right to turn down the jobs you don't feel comfortable with, or won't be able to see any appreciable results...

    Clearcoat Fracturing versus Clearcoat Failure

Regarding the crows feet, and I suppose the fracturing as well, would a coating like Opti-Coat help prevent it from getting any worse? Maybe buy them some time? I know it certainly isn't going to get any better...

    Buff and shine mf pads

Also, after cleaning the pads, use a cat or dog hair brush (slicker) to separate and fluff up the fibers. Works even better on wool wash mitts and purple foamed wool pads!

    Buff and shine mf pads

On a DA like the GG6 or PC, I prefer the Meguiar's MF pads as the B&S pads tend to want to fly off the BP and/or overheat. On the FLEX 3401, I prefer the B&S pads. The key is to use no more pressure than the weight of the machine. For cleaning the pads, I use a bug scrubber sponge. Works...

    Optimum opti-coat 2 REALLY permanent?

Anything that can be polished off, is not, IMO, permanent. That being said, I personally use. Opti-Coat on my vehicle and have been very happy with it, permanent or not. As for the "two years is permanent" statement, actually got into a rather heated discussion with someone on another forum...

    DISCONTINUED CG's PRODUCTS

This should apply to any detailing purchase... Buying stuff just because it's a good deal is a great way to blow your money and end up with a garage full of stuff that doesn't get used and ends up in the samples post. Been there, done that, started the 12-step program...

    Swirl judge needed.

Who says you were asking for a show car? All you're asking for is a swirl-free car... If you end up doing it yourself, Menzerna SF 4000 should do very nicely on a black Lake Country CCS pad. If they don't come out, step up to either Menzerna PF 2500 or Sonax Perfect Finish on a green CCS pad...

question about fresh clear coat and re-clearing

What kind of clear are you using? If you aren't using a 2K clear, such as SprayMax, it's going to yellow over time. Now's the time to do it right if you aren't already.

    exhaust tips?

You need to use steel wool gently, and only if absolutely necessary... It should never be a first, second, or even third choice.

    exhaust tips?

If you don't have any #0000 steel wool, you can use 1000 grit sandpaper which, according to 3M, is equivalent. Used some last week on some Impreza tailpipes that define the word "trashed".

Brochures typically have a very low return rate. You'd be better off creating a constantly up to date brochure: a website.

    Time to Detail the Raptor

How did you fit that thing in the car wash? I watched a YouTube video awhile back about ten reasons not to own a Raptor, and one of them was that it doesn't fit in a car wash..
