The bottle has dilution ratios for interior and exterior uses. I've used it during the winter on paint without problems. I sprayed the entire salty/grimy car before pulling into a carwash bay, let it sit a few minutes, and then sprayed off. After that I usually drive home and do a rinseless.

I think you answered your own question. If you want the least amount of risk then don't go cheap on towels and get some nice ones you can dedicate for rinseless. If you ruin what you have already done, you have to redo your correction and will end up just buying nicer towels anyway.
