Giots 3in1 v Griots Best in Show Detailer

Griots best in Show has been my favorite quickie wipe for the past few years, even better than Pinnacle Crystal Mist which could be a little finicky . It replace my old favorite which was Mothers Showtime. It seems so many of these materials are wipe on off easy now, does it make more sense to...

BLACKFIRE SiO2 Spray Sealant review by Mike Phillips

I have seen my friends with seriously detailed vehicles, guess what, washing a car is washing a car........I have, indeed, come to the realization that the Blackfire SiO2 is as good and better than the Collinite 845 I have used for years for durability. I am definitely not going to a tiny bottle...

Review: 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating

Great review Mike ! I have come to the conclusion that full on ceramic coating is no doubt the way to go for show cars and garage queens. But in the real world I experience such as driving a Range Rover to Maine from CT every week where it WILL encounter snow, dirt, sand, salt, have to deal with...

BLACKFIRE SiO2 Spray Sealant review by Mike Phillips

Problem is, you live in St loius and the weather , sand, salt, logging trucks...there is no remote comparison.....I 100% get it in your region. Guess you don't hand wash your car after 800 mile trips up and down 95 from CT to Maine in the winter.....its an OCD detailers nightmare!!!!

BLACKFIRE SiO2 Spray Sealant review by Mike Phillips

Thanks for the clarity.... Problem I have with all the coatings is something called real life. In real life, cars get rubbed, scratched, debris falls off trucks, trees crap sap, WINTERetc.....Twice a year, things get cleaned up. Why go thru all the coating effort ? Unless its a garage queen...

I thought SiO2 was a ceramic coat. Please explain the differences besides the OCD issues applying many of these ceramic coatings.

Why do you use the brands you do, & not others??

For the past ~30 yrs, Collinite 845 has been my finish coat of choice. I used it the first time after a STRONG recommendation by my speed shop at the time. No white dust, indestructible, deep shine that lasts 6 months easy...including New England winters. I tried Maguire products then switched...

    Stepping up my detailing game

Let's talk about leather now. I have used Lexol for YEARS. Anything wrong or too old school about it? I don't like the slippery cleaners like Meguiars etc

    Stepping up my detailing game

Well, some impressions on SiO2 are in order. Its wicked easy to apply the Blackfire SiO2 product. It looks great and feels great. Is it better in those 2 regards than my Collinite 845???? hmmmmmm Now both vehicles have gone through their first winter crapola cycle. 1500+ miles of storm hell on...

    Stepping up my detailing game

    Stepping up my detailing game

Well the Mother's #1 base cleaning was typical...eeasy but damn stuff really likes black plastic. McKee's wxx remover gets a C. But then the Blackfire SiO2. The first word in the package label descriptor is "Simple"....Why YES!! it is. If you can apply a Showtime / Finisher etc to a car in...

    Stepping up my detailing game

Well here goes. Seen as its winter in New England and protection trumps perfection, I will use up my good old Mother's #1 to prepare the Stelvio for a coat of Blackfire SiO2. Let the durability games begin. I assume if I get the January thaw and can get a thorough car wash, I can apply the...

303 Aerospace Can Double the Life/Mileage of Your Tire's Tread?

He may have the shiniest most dangerous treads on the road, but if it looks like bs, sounds like bs, ....probably is. If his "process" creates a zero friction tire that never wears, he is a danger to everyone around him. You are right, moron was a bad choice of words. Hazard would be more...

303 Aerospace Can Double the Life/Mileage of Your Tire's Tread?

Maybe he should just bake them to harden the rubber like hockey pucks. Then they will never wear out. Granted, you won't be able to move either That moron does not know the definition of "FRICTION"

Winter Storage: Blanket under Car Cover?

GUYS!! IT DOES NOT HAIL IN THE WINTER on LI. South yes. Hail typically occurs during thunderstorms. You are talking about sleet. Very different phenomena. Can also be large. I'd cover it to keep all the acid rain from NY off the vehicle and plan on doing a full detail in the spring. The...
