Protection Detail 2011 Jetta - Many Pics

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the Final Finish first and it didn't make much of a dent. Beings this was my first time doing this I did not want to force the issue so I left the RIDs alone after a second pass with Power Finish. Maybe a Cyan pad would work better? The HT pads seem to finish...

Protection Detail 2011 Jetta - Many Pics

Some say, and I agree, that the real test of a finish is out in the bright Sun. I finished the detail in the evening so I took the car out in the Sun this morning to check it out. Well the RIDs are still there and that kind of bothers me. I'd like to know what the next step is to get rid of RIDs...

Protection Detail 2011 Jetta - Many Pics

Hi All, There is an interesting story to this vehicle. This 2011 Jetta was the Christmas present for my daughter (well deserved as she has maintained a 4.1 GPA) so it’s only a couple of months old. It’s a dark blue metallic color – very pretty. Back in early January we had a strong cold...

    The Forum Kit Wax Test

Hi all, I bought into the "forum Kit" and after applying all the products I couldn't be happier. After six washes over two months, always applying the Pinnacle Crystal Mist Carnuba Spray after the wash, the car's finish is still perfect. Moreover, nothing sticks to it! I did a test this week...

How do You wash your MF towels?

There's been a lot written about this by some and the more anal-ytical ones go as far as separately washing the towels by use, citing that sealers, for example, are not very water soluble as are most modern water based polishers. They don't want all of their towels, especially the waffle ones...

    Your opion please...

I went with the "Forum Kit" - Klasse AIO + Klasse Sealant Glaze topped with Pinnacle Souveran wax. It is awesome! I did a sequential test, where I used one of the products by itself first, looking very carefully at the results before going to the next one. I've washed my vehicle with Meguiar's...

Where can I get a decent LEATHER cleaning brush OTC?

It will depend on the leather. If the leather is very soft and finely finished then a soft brush will work best. In that case a brush made expressly for leather is kind of a must. I use a medium stiff brush in my BMW X5 because the leather is pretty thick and pebbled finished. As a matter of...

    What was your first car?

Mine was a 1971 Dodge Demon 340, pretty much identical to this one: http://static.cargurus.com/images/site/2007/03/30/16/37/1971_dodge_dart-pic-61263.jpeg I drag raced it on weekends and once won the Stock Eliminator :). If I remember correctly it ran in G/stock at the time. Cost $3200 new...

    About Tire Dressing and Applicators

They are the factory tires - Latitude Tour HP Runflats 255/55-18. I thought I wouldn't like the runflats but I do now. They're a bit stiffer ride wise but the car corners like on rails. And a lot more storage space where the spare used to live :xyxthumbs:. Best, Jose

    About Tire Dressing and Applicators

LOL! No branding so you recognized it. I do sip single malt after hours on weekends at home. Just happened to be on the work bench that Saturday after a long detail day. Not used for tire dressing!!! :).

    About Tire Dressing and Applicators

Hi all, New here but I thought I share a tip, not really an article though. I've always thought that properly cleaned and dressed tires are as important to the look of a car as a dazzling paint job. Over the years new products and applicators have come to the market and I have tried my share...

    Best carts for detailing?

:iagree:Ditto the Craftsman Cart. Just got one last Sunday on Sale for $49 - regular price $80 :). It is really well built and will handle 400 pounds. Casters have ball bearings and ALL casters rotate - important. I dressed it with their foam drawer pads - resistant to solvents, etc. While...

    Just got my first DA

Thanks for the heads-up on the hardness of the Jetta paint. I might want to start in on a Saturday instead of a Sunday!! Good to know that it will be hard to hurt it though :). I fish all over Tampa Bay. Tons of flats around here. Joe Island just south of the Skyway bridge is super on an...

    Just got my first DA

Hi all, New member here and all - this week I received my first DA machine - a Griot orbital polisher. I have no experience whatsoever with machine polishing so instead of putting it to my cars I decided to experiment with my canoes :). I like to fly fish on the flats around here and found the...

Hi all, Just joined after lurking the forums since last October and ordering a number of things. I'm a non-commercial user that decided to do all of our cars myself after I bought my first daughter a car this Christmas, my next child's car coming in less than in two years. Four cars is about...
