    Truck Cab/Bed Area Question

Must have discontinued it. I couldn't find it on autopia's site. I'm going to try the duster. I'd like to clean the whole area but if I could just get a few inches further I'd be happy. By the way, I noticed someone had filed for a patent on such a device. Don't know if it's the same one...

what pads to use on my DA for heavy oxidation?

I've been out of boating for 15 years but I purchased a used, 21 ft Chaparall that had decent interior but the gel had oxidized pretty badly back in the late 80s. For the oxidization removal I used one of the 3M compounds (don't remember which one) and followed with a Meguiar's polish and...

    Truck Cab/Bed Area Question

Thanks, that looks like what I've been looking for. Not too worried about polishing and waxing. I don't remove my bed for anything.

    Truck Cab/Bed Area Question

I've owned pickups from 1986 to the present and have never been satisfied with washing (much less polishing and waxing) the area between the cab and the bed. I can only get my hand around a couple of inches down. My procedure is to try to get soap on the area and then hose it off, but I...

    Truck Running Boards Restore

Allen, Here are three photos, two of the running board and one of the bumper step. The bumper step is faded a bit more than the pic suggests. The first two are of the driver side running board. Gary

    Truck Running Boards Restore

I'll look over some of these products. I watched a youtube video about Forever Black. Looks like some good stuff but I don't believe my running boards are so bad as to need such a treatment. I try to post some pictures tomorrow.

    Polishing Pads - organizing them

Dividers are a good idea. I store in a similar plastic container but it's hard to keep them organized.

    Truck Running Boards Restore

The running boards and bumper step on my truck are beginning to need something beyond a good washing. I use Meguiar's Black for other trim but I need something for the running boards and rear bumper step That will bring back the black but isn't slick. My neighbor recommended Forever Black...

couldnt finish my detailing all in one day

I'm 61 and not in very good health. Consequently, I can't detail my car in one day. In fact, I usually divide it over three or four days on my pickup. Previously, I had used detail spray so long as I could keep it clean by not driving it any (or very little). No problem, but now I've...

do you guys spread wax by hands?

Other than spreading it on a pad with a finger, I never have. If you're referring to a video I saw of a man detailing with very expensive wax, I suspect his reason was to keep wax waste to a minimum. That's the only reason I can think of anyway.

Minimum drill for Meguiars DA Power System?

I was going to suggest that but wasn't sure if it would fit the HF model.

Minimum drill for Meguiars DA Power System?

CWTurner I failed to mention a problem with the HF DA. It's really not a DA problem but a pad problem. Assuming HF hasn't corrected the problem, the pads they sell are designed for a 5" backing plate and the backing plate on their DA is 6". The consequence is that the plate digs into the edge...

Minimum drill for Meguiars DA Power System?

I've never used the Megs da kit but the literature states that 1200-3500 rpm as compatible. Your drill is within the lower end of the range. It seems it would work but I'm not sure as to how well. You might want to do some research (read reviews) on the Harbor Freight DA polisher. I believe...

    Portable hand-pump sprayer

I don't think you'll find any pressure washer than will clean a moderately dirty car without damaging the paint and or stripping the wax . I have a 2700 psi gas pressure washer but I don't use it on my car. It will peel paint. I know. Think of the touchless car washes. I've been told most...

    Portable hand-pump sprayer

I hate to be discouraging but I don't think you're going to be able to do much, other than get water on the car, with a hand held sprayer. Some do have more pressure than the one you're looking at but not nearly the same as an electric or gas. I would suggest going with one of the...

    windshield fog

That's a problem because the outside air is warmer than the inside air. You don't want to recirculated A/C in this case. Not much to do other than using wipers and not turning A/C on for a while. I've had the problem before , especially on humid days. It usually goes away pretty fast but...

    windshield fog

Mostly it's the difference between the outside temp and the inside that causes fog on the inside. Turning the air condition on with air recirculation on usually helps. Here's an explanation from ehow. Why Does the Windshield in a Car Fog Up? | eHow
