    can definitely attest to removing 1500 sanding marks.. using the rupes with a megs Mf cutting pad and M100 almost finishes down perfectly :props:

    you can do it with 1000 [sometimes 800 depending on starting level of deterioriation] then go to 1500.... then can use a 3" MF cutting pad with a compound then finish with foam and a mild polish... saves time and VERY effective i prefer to finish with opti coat not opti lens

    TO COAT A coating is front time loaded.. meaning all the time is in the prep... afterward it saves a TEMENDOUS amount of time[washing,waxing,correcting etc].. not to mention offers protection, gloss, and peace of mind that paint is DONE DEAL! you wont regret it :props:

    I say be patient and wait for the fg400... then try it.. will definitely help on the rids and its easy to work with... you sound quite particular and you realize that whatever the final prep looks like will be locked in by the opticoat... so I'd say do it all the way to full correction and...

    as Dave mentioned IRON X is a must to preserve clarity from the start then I would clay then do a light polish with M205 finally 2 IP wipedowns with 12.5⅝ SOLUTION.. OPTICOAT - 2-3 layers.. wiping 1-2 after each section pass... waiting 4 min between each layering then gtg :props:
