Can I do te clear coat test by hand or use a machine? If that's what it is (which I really think it is) how far out should I tape to clear coat it myself? If it ends up looking horrible I'll end up going to body shop but I'd like to try it first.

If it's possibly glue what should I use to remove? This way I can try that out and see if it goes away. Both those pictures I took of the spots I can pick it off were you see it's faded.
