How To: Detail Your Engine Like a Professional

Beautiful engine bay SR99! And it's 12 yrs old? Wow, looks better than new! One of the nice things about a truck is more room to work in..

Make Kindle version of AOD ebook

The Art Of Detailing ebook is a password-protected PDF file. The Kindle Fire can't open it "as is". There are ways of removing the DRM to make it a standard PDF, but the filesize is too large for the Fire to display quickly. I've reduced the size & quality of the PDF to get it to display, but...

Suggestion: automatic paper packing on my orders

Love Autogeek, but hate the styrofoam. It would be great if I got paper packing by default whenever I place an order. Currently I have to request paper packing and when I forget, I get that f&^k#$ Styrofoam. Thanks.

Make Kindle version of AOD ebook

I have the "Art Of Detailing" ebook and it's great. But I wish it came in a format suitable for reading on my Kindle Fire, that's my preferred ereader.

Bored or a little crazy. Opti coat uses for non automotive purposes.

I'm gonna try it on my shower tile. Used 303 shower guard last time, it worked pretty good.

    window cleaning

I got Sprayway in a pressurized aerosol spray can and the product works well. But I don't recommend pressurized spray cans, there's too much overspray. Better off with something in a non-pressurized pump bottle.

T8 Light Fixture / Epoxy Grage Coating

High CRI bulbs are harder to find and expensive. And you may not see a difference. It's easy and cheap to get different temperature bulbs. I prefer 4-5K, looks more white to me than 6+ K which starts looking blue. 1000bulbs.com has a good selection. Also realize that outdoor color perception...

+1 to that! 1000bulbs.com is a good place to get the bulbs. They package up the tubes just fine - never got a damaged one.

Lighting Issue: How many T8 fixtures in one socket?

Buy a "P3 Kill A Watt" (Google it) to find out how much currrent you're drawing. It's an inexpensive and useful device.

    dressing engine wheels and trim

I used PERL 1:0 on tires and it looks great, thanks for your review of it. Is it glossy on interior surfaces? It's glossy on my tires.

    when to 'tape-off'

It's a great question, I'd like to know too. I put a drop of the product on my black plastic leaf blower, rub it in and let it dry as a test. Not a good test, but better than nothing. I never want to go back to the days of trying to get Nu Finish off black trim. Maybe try a bike tire too.

    Favorite interior dressing

I've used Ultima Interior Guard Plus, Optimum Leather Protectant, Meguiar's #40 and 303 Aerospace Protectant on my gray pebble-finish and hard black plastic interior trim. After application as per manufacturer's instructions and the products have dried, all the products looked and felt the same...

    Opticoat Spray Technique

Thanks, that's what I figured. But I've seen pump spray bottles that don't expose unused product to air (e.g. odorants) and the empty volume of the sprayer doesn't have to be packaged with a reactant.

    Opticoat Spray Technique

Why not sell it in a small sprayer if it's easier to apply that way?

What do you use for Fabric proctection?

I'd think fabric guard would be hard upsell because it takes a while to dry. You'd have to keep the car overnight.
