How To: Detail Your Engine Like a Professional

Wow, that was great! Thanks Nick. For me, the hardest part is getting the right tools to reach all the nooks and crannies inside the engine bay. I forgot about the mini Daytona speed detail brush. I have the large speed brush and it's great for wheels. I've added the small brush to my car...

How do you test new products and techniques? Some products (e.g. Opti-coat, Cquartz, etc) or techniques (e,g, wet sanding, wool buffing, etc) need to be evaluated/practiced before going on a customer's car. Any suggestions on how to do some testing and get some experience without messing up...

Which 303 product? Their speed detailer spray works great on paint, trim and tires. The Protectant does not leave a shine and looks hazy on paint.

How may of you own a Paint Thickness Gauge

Fred is right about the multi-layer ultrasonic units (e.g. PosiTector 200) - it's doesn't work on metal. Here the response I got from DeFelsko: "Our PosiTector 200 B-Adv is designed for measuring the thickness of paint applied to non-metal substrates. It is not designed for measuring the...

    emblem removal..

Tarminator removed the badge adhesive on my 2012 Nissan. My badges were attached with grey double-sided tape. If you warm up the adhesive with a hair dryer after removing the badge, you may be able to roll the adhesive off with your thumb and skip the chemicals. Fishing line worked for me, but...

Lets discuss Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion

Thank you Nick & Mike! That's a bit more work than I want to do (I'm not a pro). I have a new 2012 pearl white Nissan Leaf. The paint looks good and feels pretty clean, but there was alot of grit on it when I first got it a few weeks ago. I've already purchased the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint...

Removing scuff marks on interior plastic??

Tarminator and a toothbrush worked for me. I was concerned it might damage the plastic, but it didn't. I made sure to wash it all off with an APC and lots of water. Opie suggested using a pencil eraser. Will try that next time. May also try a laundry spot remover (e.g. Shout) next time, I've...
