Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

What's a better option when that time comes? I especially don't want issues leading up to the ceramic. For now, I did the Menzerna Powerlock. Did clay the whole car, but only did a mild polish on the hood and rockers. It was killing me putting sealant on it without doing more corrections, but I...

Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

Craigdt & Rsurfer are both correct. I over think pretty much everything. Was just afraid of either added difficulty on the soon correction, or that a recent sealant would cause issues or contamination for the soon polishing step. Going Menzerna sealant. This way if 6 weeks becomes 8 weeks it's...

Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. For 6 weeks, I definitely want a lot more than a spray or quick detailer can offer. But I guess if both wax and sealant are going to be an issue, I might as well do sealant for now for the better protection. When ceramic time comes, I already picked up Carpro...

Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

So the presence of a semi-recent sealant won't contaminate or hinder the polish I use in a few weeks? Main trigger for this was a recent bird dropping that etched a bit. So not only did I need to spot correct that, but I know it would not have been as bad with a recent sealant..

Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

It's likely 6 weeks, and I have a vacation I will be driving for. And it's summer. So I really want the look as well as water shed & protection. So a wax would be best? I have products, so I am not planning on buying anything for this, just using stuff on hand. It would either be Pinnacle...

Quick Advice Needed - "For Now" Detail, Doing Ceramic Soon, But Not Yet

So, I finally bought everything to do a ceramic coating, but I will not have time for a month or two. So today, I am just doing a "hold me over" detail and need advice on which protectant- Wax or Sealant? For today I am just doing a wash, clay, and maybe a quick 1 step correction on a couple of...

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Wow! Both look like the type of thing I am looking for. Which one is better? Which would restore the finish better vs masking it?

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Correct. And I'm more looking for a sealer than a dressing, since the dressing tends to wear off and is only temporary. Looking for something I can rub in and seal the surface. Kinda like polymer paint sealers but for this.

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Update - I used some Meguiars Gold Class leather cleaner/conditioner I had laying around. Applied a few times. It's much better now, but still there. The color seems fine. I need to seal it or something so it has that sealed shine like the rest. Any ideas??

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

I like the idea of just a dressing since its quick and cheap. I'll try to get a good daylight pic, and maybe you can tell me if color was removed or if its just texture/dressing needed. Any thoughts on this stuff? Leather Repair Kits .com - Repair Kit Volvo Colors The various products are...

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Oh ok. Who makes 303? And I don't want anything like Armorall, I've always hated it. Makes things way too wet and shiny. On tires I favor more of a gel that's applied with an applicator sponge.

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

I like how that sounds. Forgive me, but what is 303? Who makes it and where can I find it? Local preferred over online if possible. Thank you!

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

I'll see if I can find an interior place. Don't even know where to start with that. And agreed, no shot I'm removing the dash. No shot I'm replacing the dash. The pics posted exaggerated it a lot since they were at night with my phone and the flash. Today in cloudy daylight its not nearly as...

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Well if vinyl is a type of plastic, can't it be buffed or sealed like plastics? And I also need to restore the color, which I would think a dye would acheive. But the question is what type & how do I color match?
  15. E

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Correct. As well as texture. The question is how can I restore the color & texture?

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

Well most of the process was the sponge side, but to get into the texture of the dash I tried the scubber side. Normally it's like a Scotch Brite, but this was a much older sponge where it wore down. So I thought it would be safe. I screwed up, I realize that now. This duct tape residue was...

Better pic below. It looks like it maybe did dillute the dye, but there is a noticeable 'feeling' difference. The bulk of the dash has a smooth finish and this area feels softer, almost like rubber. More grippy. I think its the finish as well as color. How can I fix both issues?
  18. E

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

I think that is just the photo & flash reflection. It's more of a texture/sheen difference than color. I will clean it off & get a new pic.

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

I think a sealant might be what I need. I used a terry towel & a kitchen sponge. It seams like it lost the 'crust' or outer coat where it's now dull. It's softer there, where the rest has sort of a shell. And it lost the sheen the rest has. The dash is padded, not like hard plastic. Pretty sure...

Dashboard help, residue removed now no shine

So I just picked up a 2003 Volvo XC70. Interior was mostly mint except a residue from duct tape or something on the dash. So on instinct, I used Goo Gone. It was VERY difficult, so I fear I got a bit too rough with it. The adhesive is gone, but so is the shine in that spot where I had to scrub...
