Anyone tried the Chicago Electric Platinum 6" DA from Harbor Freight

I might buy one, its on sale for 54.99 if you have the coupon. Or 64.99 minus 20% (or 25%) if you have the single item coupon instead. Currently rocking my ages old PC 7336, the HF should be a welcome improvement. Im not a business so a Flex or Rupes seems overkill (and out of my...

    Garage lighting need advise

The newer ones with electronic ballasts should work OK....maybe not in the EXTREME cold (like -10) but Im not sure *I* work in weather that cold either.

    Garage lighting need advise

Looking at the display models at HD, what seems to be the brightest is the 8' tandem Lithonia fixture. It uses 4 4' long bulbs so they are easy and cheap to replace. The only drawback is that it doesnt come with reflector(s). Its a T8HO fixture, it looks like the HO models use a ballast with...

Horror Story and Need a Professional Auto Detailer in Daytona/Ormond Beach FL Area?

I had a 2001 i30 with the "hard clear coat" sticker under the hood. It was the first car I really got into detailing with, and when they said hard clear coat, they meant it! Took me a couple weeks to get the process down and complete to get rid of all the swirls. Now? Not so sure...Infiniti...

    Fixing "dealer washed" Opti Coat

Its been a while, but the saga is now over. Hooked up with a local mobile detailer and the results are here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152137312332670.1073741848.105650322669&type=1 Couldnt really tell how bad it was until I saw the 50/50 shots. Came out really nice...

Horror Story and Need a Professional Auto Detailer in Daytona/Ormond Beach FL Area?

It sounds more like they were just using a glaze or product(s) with fillers to hide the stuff rather than fix it. Then after you drive it and/or wash it a few times the fillers disappear and you get to see what they didnt fix (again) If thats the case, its not a HORRIBLE thing because it means...

what do you think? any opticoat left? - video

Ive had Opti 2.0 on my G since it was new. I put very little miles on the car (9500 in 3 years) and its garaged most of the time (either at my house or parking garage at work when I do drive it) I notice there are spots that dont bead/sheet like you would expect. HOWEVER, they are almost all...

Rupes Bigfoot or Flex 3401 for enthusiast?

I think Kevin Brown could make a hand powered drill look like a good way to polish :)

Help me pick a polish, sealant, top coat wax for Crimson Black

I should have pics sometime Sunday. You can check my thread from a week or two ago about the dealer wrecking my Opti coat (swirls everywhere!) If the weather holds out it will be getting fixed on Sunday. I started to work on it myself and was able to make some headway but it was slow...

Help me pick a polish, sealant, top coat wax for Crimson Black

My G37 is Malbec Black, which I believe is the same or at least very close to Nissan Crimson Black I had Opti Coat 2.0 applied shortly after I got the car and I personally love the look. Its more of a sealant look for sure ("hard", not like a soft deep look from a carnuba) but personally I...

Wow... Never saw my hood in this light until today

Looks like water spots to me ? Did you wash and not dry it? You mentioned clay....did you just clay the car or did you polish and LSP after that?

Optimum Hyper Polish: Difficult to remove? Anyone else have this problem?

Chris from Optimum says a damp microfiber should take off the residue. Since its a no-fillers no-oils product, using a QD might defeat the purpose. Ive had a similar issue with a different water based no fillers/oils product (Gtechniq P1). Seems like I had to work it MUCH longer than...

    What went wrong? Pic's included.

Id be more interested in 22PLE longevity on wheels vs GTechniq wheel armor, which is *supposedly* made specifically for wheels. I can tell you 3 years after coating 3 of the wheels on my then brand new car with Gtech C5 (mostly as an experiment to see when the 4th wheel is visibly different)...

Tuf Shine: Hurry Up, Mother Nature!

Much to my wifes chagrin, Ive washed wheels/tires in one of our bathtubs, then applied coating(s) to them in our basement. Mother nature be damned!

    What went wrong? Pic's included.

Check the lip of the wheel at 12 o'clock in the 2nd pic. He said it comes off with polishing. Im calling it tar-like and it just smeared on the surface. The C5 probably is making it easier to come off than if it were on an uncoated wheel.

    What went wrong? Pic's included.

It almost looks like something greasy/oily/tarry? I have C5 on my G37 wheels and most stuff just washes right off. Thats why Im thinking its a sticky material on yours that just kind of smeared. Can you tell how the stuff "feels" on there?

Done With Wax on Daily Driver

This. I know it sounds horrible, but I dont wash "my baby" during the winter. No matter how dirty it gets, I leave it. It has OptiCoat on it, I know its still there (everytime I wash it I see the water almost refusing to stay on the paint). If I went out there on a 30 degree day and tried...

    2 passes and still scratches

Im surprised I havnet seen it mentioned here - isnt the rule of thumb if you can catch your fingernail on it, 99.9% chance a DA wont be able to fully correct it? To me, a "scratch" is something I can catch my fingernail on, therefore I couldnt really use a DA to fix.
