Has anyone ever been asked this?

I've never been asked how such and such detailer would handle a job, but I've been asked a hundred times how I would go about doing this or that. Most of the time they are only interested in my technique so they can attempt it themselves. Not all,...most. In this case I was mistaken. I think...

Question for those who use a spray wax or QD when drying

Honestly, I've used a large thick MF to dry most of the water and then used spray wax with regular MF towels. Other times I've gone straight to a regular MF towel w/ the spray wax and never use the thicker MF towel. And then other times I've gone straight to leaf blower mode and then spray...

    Foam Cannon: Over it

Honestly I've been tempted to buy one for a while. I mean it looks cool and fun....but does it do a better job than traditional method, and it takes more time? Are the results noticeably apparent? IMO, I can't see justifying the cost. Here in California we have a drought so water waste isn't...

Has anyone ever been asked this?

You answered fine. That guys a tool. He was totally trying to find out your technique so he could give it a go himself. You should charge him an extra hundred just for being a jackazz.

2006 PT Cruiser Detail & Headlight Restoration

Great job, great write-up. I might have to try the Poli Seal.

Glass polishing - How to remove scratches in glass

Good knowledge. Obviously this is a source of revenue for detailers, being able to offer this as an upcharge/add on service. Any ideas on what one should charge for this service? And would it be better for the client to just replace the windshield?

    New studio! JC'S Automotive Detailing

I'm jealous. It would be so bad ass to have a space like that, make it look good. Paint those floors like a glossy grey. Easy to clean and get good reflection.

specific questions about starting a side car cleaning company.

Highly unlikely you can make a water tank out of a storage bin. But good luck. If you're MacGyver, the odds increase,....a little. I can get a sense of where you're headed. With trying to compete price wise you'll either be so tired and burnt out in a few months or just quit before it gets...

    Mothers vs meguiars

Meguiar's. Hands down. Twice on Sundays. Never been impressed with Mother's. To me, Meguiar's is more pro and Mother's is more joe. Their clay bar didn't seem to last nor do as good of job as Meguiar's. Oh, their Showtime Detailer smells like cinnamon. But I wont buy it. lol...

    My My..Disaster Area

Uh, first, great job. You got that thing looking respectable. Second,....how and why did you 'volunteer' your services? Was it a school raffle or something. Church thing? In the past I've thought of donating a detail so my kids Little League can raise money by raffling off the detail.

    Wheels First?

I agree with BobbyG. Interior first just so I wont be perspiring on the client's seats while I'm cleaning. Especially in the summer. If it's a larger suv and I'm actually stepping inside the vehicle, my shoes wont be wet from already washing the exterior. A lesson I learned when first...

My business is about to boom

I don't know your area,....but that seems waaaaaay too cheap. Especially in the heat of summer coming up. Get ready to sweat.

    Unnecessary items in customers vehicles

Yes, I'll instruct clients to empty out vehicle of all personal belongings before detailing. Of course, those that don't get their stuff put in the gallon Ziploc freezer bag. I'm cautious to throw away anything. You never know if an old straw wrapper or water bottle holds sentimental value to...

Used Nanoskin for the first time!

uh,...think I'll stick to clay bar. I can't afford to spend the time correcting paint if all I was doing is a wash and wax/sealant.

That's great. This could be a great opportunity to learn a lot. Many possibilities to where this could lead.

    Please critique my website...

I like that you stated if the client is looking for a quick wash wax and vac they should look elsewhere. This, to me, shows your clients that you actually care and are passionate about your detailing. Did you build it yourself or pay someone?
