"New" tool in the battle against brake dust

New to me (for this use, anyway), and I've never seen it mentioned here or on the various car and detailing forums in which I participate. I've tried multiple things to easily remove brake dust. I hate brake dust on my wheels, but love the initial bite of BMW OEM pads. So I've treated wheels...

Old product, new trick part II

Thanks all. It seems to be getting even better over time, which makes sense given that SG has no cleaners in it. Once the wheels are clean (I dont' even bother to dry them now), I just spray them down with the diluted SG and wipe them off. They also are shining more than I remember (but that...

Old product, new trick part II

Recently, I've posted (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/41495-old-product-new-trick.html#post545402) about using up about 1/3 of a bottle of Klasse Sealant Glaze that's been sitting on my shelf doing nothing, by diluting it to a 10% solution and spraying it on my wheels...

    Old product new trick

If you're asking for the wheels, I cleaned the wheels thoroughly with Sonax, and then I treated them with AIO as you normally would (used an old sponge applicator, since there is always brake dust you didn't see tucked into rear crevasses). After that, I've been washing just with normal car...

    Old product new trick

That was my original purpose in trying this - might as well use it up, since I'm not using it for anything else and I'm too stubborn to toss it :) Even if it's not durable, I think it's working, since every time I wash it seems like the brake dust is easier to get off. I'd say about 90% of it...

    New old member

hi folks, Just wanted to take a second and say hello here - I'm not new to detailing, but am new to this particular forum. I got into detailing (just personal passion, not professionally) when I got a new-to-me Lexus LS400 about 10 years ago. Just recently sold it (with 215K miles on it)...

    Old product new trick

Nothing wrong with their instructions. They are just covering their bases. They also don't talk about diluting SG the way they do with AIO, but there are several old threads on Autopia about doing that successfully that I found when looking for a starting dilution ratio. My wheels are BMW...

    Old product new trick

Hey all, Thought I'd share this since I've been doing it for a few weeks now and it it seems to be working really well. I have about 1/2 bottle of Klasse Sealant Glaze that sat on the shelf for ages, since even though it's a a classic, it's ease of use leaves a bit to be desired. Anyway...

    New car purchase

You've got it. one thing to make sure of if you use one of the newer, more durable sealers (Opticoat, Cquartz) is to make sure the paint is as perfect as you want it to be from polishing before you apply the sealant, because once you do that you won't want to go backwards to the correction...

    California duster?

Thanks BobbyG! I'm a long-time customer of Autogeek, and also have been known to hang out on some of the other detailing forums (another user name I have from the past is hook). Glad to be here - will be posting more soon and will do an introcution when I have my new ride ready for photos...

    California duster?

I've used one for years on dark blue and black cars. As BobbyG says, don't press too hard - just let the fabric lightly glide over the paint. And yes - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Also, when new you will see light streaks after using it - this is excess wax transfer from the duster to the car, and...
