3M paint protection films - opinions

I will have to find out what brand I just got (on the wifes new car). I was advised against 3M film, and they used something else. The interesting thing that he showed me was that it was self healing. He grabbed a green scrubby and marred the surface - all kinds of hazing and swirls. Took a...

    Dusty car care

So I spent 14 hours this past weekend correcting the exterior of my car (black Infiniti). I literally drive a block down the road, and my car is dusty. Every time. What is the proper care for this? Say I'm going to a car show (which I do probably monthly) - is it OK to use a microfiber to...

    Incredibly Cheap Finds

I have one of those and I love it. Just used it yesterday to detail actually. It lowers enough to allow me to polish the bottoms of the doors without having to kneel down on a moving blanket.

    Polishing in multiple session question

Quick question while I'm here - I got a sample of the WGPS3.0, but I'm thinking of getting some PL as well. Figure I might as well stick with the Menz line (doesn't sound like I'm making a bad choice), plus I will have a full bottle without worrying about using up my 2 ounces midway through...

    Polishing in multiple session question

Cool - thanks for the info everyone. Sounds like section by section is the way to go. I'm hoping that maybe I can get a Friday/Sunday combo and just leave the car parked on Saturday. Just busy the next few weekends and not sure that I want to wait that long. Hoping that I can at least knock...

    Polishing in multiple session question

Here is the 50/50 picture I posted in another thread after doing a test spot on the trunk (Menz 2500/Blue pad). Black Inifinit, used a dirty wash brush - the ENTIRE car looks like this

    Polishing in multiple session question

So I find myself with way more motivation than I have time. I'm currently in the process of correcting my entire car, and I know it's going to be quite the process. I am wondering this - Knowing that I do not have a foreseeable 12-20 hours on a weekend without anything going on, whats the...

Look what you guys made me do!

Gave the car a quick wash tonight. First, I must say that Sonax is some awesome stuff compared to whatever random Eagle One cleaner I've tried in the past. Also fired up my buffer for the first time with some Menz 2500/Blue OCC pad and I must say I'm very impressed and relieved. I've got...

How hot is too hot? (Sun vs Temp)

Well, i know that it is hot and muggy as heck outside. And I stand roughly 2 meters above the ground where I am sweating the most. lol At this point, I think I will probably wait because I don't even want to be standing around outside long enough to wash my car, let alone get any real work done

How hot is too hot? (Sun vs Temp)

Hey everyone. Just got my first stash of detailing supplies last night, and I was hoping to get out tonight and do some detailing on my black G35. I know that you are not supposed to wax in direct sun, and I also know that wax "likes" between 55-80F. I guess I have 2 questions. Does the...

    2009 Skyline GTR

Yeah, I was referring to you when I said no hard feelings. I'm in an G/Z car club and was giving you a hard time about calling the GTR a Skyline (they aren't). Probably a little new around here to start trolling too bad - I'll take it down a notch :xyxthumbs:

    2009 Skyline GTR

True. I guess for a guy that isn't even getting his detailing supplies until tomorrow, I probably don't deserve to call out anyone that has some experience. No hard feelings towards HA, but I do know my Infinitis and a GTR is no Skyline. Happy motoring

    2009 Skyline GTR

If it was the customer calling it a Skyline GTR, then you should be safe doing whatever you want with it. If it was you, then I would let someone that knows about cars take care of the detailing

Need advice prior to large order

I just ordered a fairly large first order, and I found that it was cheaper in the long run to order the polisher separate - as if you get it in a kit, you negate any discount code you might be looking at. For example, instead of ordering a $250 PC kit, I ended up just buying the PC, and going...

    Cleaning Pads on the cheap.

Are degreasers the best way to clean pads? I'm getting my first shipment of supplies tomorrow, so I have not had to deal with this yet. Reason I'm asking is that I picked up a gallon jug (with a 16 ounce spray bottle) of some citrus degreaser from Costco. Wonder if I can just use that stuff...

Made first purchase, looking for opinions

Being that this will be my very first attempt at polishing, can this even be done with the stuff I bought? I expect this will take some time (probably a couple of days), but if I should have something else on hand (like more aggressive pads like mentioned). I actually have a credit here to...

Made first purchase, looking for opinions

I don't believe they did until the G37 a couple years newer. Sure doesn't seem to be self healing if you ask me. lol

Made first purchase, looking for opinions

Hey all - Been lurking for a little bit now, and finally registered and placed my first order. Had a lapse in judgement, and washed my car with a dirty wash brush - scratched the heck out of everything (clear coat, nothing through). Pretty much looks like your average swirls, but all in a...
