Duped by local "detailer", now need to make it right

I agree with Stone on the CCS pads. I got the 6.5" in the kit from autogeek. In addition to all his reasons, it also produced some splatter on curved body panels that I hadn't experienced with other pads.

are buffing pads worth the money ?

I also think he is talking about using a bonnet. I recently saw a "set of pads" that was actually a single yellow pad, wool bonnet, a couple different terry cloth bonnets and a super thin microfiber bonnet. That was either at Northern Tools or Harbor Freight. I was actually surprised how much...

    California Car Duster

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've actually had it for about 4 months. I haven't used it in the past month because I got so frustrated with it. I think the plastic ones ship with way more lubricant/wax than the old ones did. I actually prefer to have plastic handle, but I wish I had my old one back.

    California Car Duster

My last one (wood handle) lasted over a year without cleaning. My new one (plastic handle) streaks like mad. Is this a change in the manufacturing process or is something that the woolite cleaning might help. I tried leaving it sitting on news paper over night (I read that might help), but it...

Duped by local "detailer", now need to make it right

A similar experience prompted me to buy a Griots DA. I got the 6.5inch pads, and XMT 3.0 and XMT 1.0. It worked great to pull out the holograms that a "professional" had induced. For under $250 I got great results and I can do it again and again on friends and family's cars. I watched all...

    Removing Scratches from Glass

I tried using the kit that autogeek sells. I spent a couple hours working on my windshield. I made a total mess of the job. In the end I probably put in more scratches than I removed. I used the same kit on drivers side window to remove a verticle scratch. It actually worked alot better. I...

just went through car wash hell!

Most of the washes In my area are what I would call the mop type. They don't brush, they just drop damp pieces of cloth all over the car. I haven't noticed any damage from them per se, but the people on the end drying usually do a pretty bad job. I've seen them put scratches in my car before my...

    Painting brake calipers

I also used the G2 system, and I thought I had cleaned the calipers sufficiently, but apparently I hadn't. I used 3 cans of non-chlorinated brake cleaner, wire-brush, and even some sand paper. Within a month I started to get flakes. If I did it again I would probably take them out to be powder...

    CQuartz vs wax and sealants?

I'm very interested in Opti-coat 2.0, my car is 6 years old, and the paint is in pretty good condition for its age. I can't get it 100% corrected, but with a couple courts of Duragloss 105 and Aquawax it looks great. I understand that Opti-coat 2.0 won't hide any imperfections, but will I still...

    Removing Rain-x

Just drive with your wipers on during a rainy afternoon. Seems to work for me :) I can't get rain-x to last. -I'd love to see your comparison, I like Duragloss stuff and was considering their rain repellent.

    Donald Trump 2012

Donald's biggest problem is he doesn't have the filter between his brain and his mouth that most people have. In the private sector he can say anything he wants and the worst consequence is he loses some stock value or an investor. If he says stupid things as president, missiles get re-targeted...

How To remove Paint Transfer off your car's paint

Re: How To Remove "Paint Transfer" I just removed some white paint transfered on my black mustang gt rear bumper. I didn't have a paint cleanser, but XMT swirl remover #1 worked wonders!

what dual action orbital polisher to buy???

I just used my Griot's 6" for the first time today. I had alot more vibration than I anticipated, but once I got used to it, and put on the pressure, it was a very nice experience. I like the hoop handle more than the stick handle.

Went to Wally World for some Autoglym Wax. have a quesiton...

    Removing Zaino Z-5

I think the proof is in the products. A ton of people have used both side by side an can't tell a difference other than the scent of the product. I used Zaino products for years before I tried Duragloss on a whim. I can't tell you its identical, but for me, it isn't different enough to matter...

    Removing Zaino Z-5

I think your right, If the Z-5 was applied correctly it should come off with a polish without much effort. (I've seen people put it on thicker than wax) I've hand polished through zaino using scratch-X. It's not a magical shield, just synthetic sealant..lol Anything abrasive will cut through it...
