    Yeah, another polisher question...

I have a PC with a 3" plate and 21 with a 5" plate and have nothing bad to say. I haven't used a flex but I'm sure I'd be happy with it too. If you value outright correction speed above all else, get the flex. The rupes is great but its generally seen as more of a finesse tool. Smoother, a...

what's one product that has impressed you (lately)?

Sonax brilliant shine. Can't believe I just found out about this stuff. I think it may have dethroned D156 for me. No clue why they market it as a QD. It's a full on sealant.

Rupes P808 vs Wolfgang Liquid Seal

Anybody have experience with both? How do they compare in terms of looks, durability, and application? Is P808 safe on trim like liquid seal is? Reason I ask is because P808 seems like a comparative bargain but it haven't been able to find many reviews on it. I would probably dilute half of it...

    megs quick wax...

I see what you're saying. Personally, my car is always garaged and rarely driven in the rain so I never see the limits of an LSP or "topper" to notice something like that. It really depends on a lot of things. By the time D156 (or similar) wears off would the beading of the initial LSP be...

    megs quick wax...

We'd have to know exactly what solvents are in UQW/D156 and their concentration to say this for sure. Assuming it does have some sort of solvent, does each application diminish the layer of ULW by 5%? 20%? 80%? What does it leave behind in relation to what it is taking off? etc All I know is...

Polish you can let dry before wiping?

Thanks guys. I am aware there is zero benefit to letting a polish dry. I don't have any issues removing UP when I wipe right away but I would never try to do a whole car with it before wiping. Like I said my paint is in already in great shape (hovers around 90-95% corrected depending on when I...

Polish you can let dry before wiping?

Good to know regarding the topping of an AIO with a sealant. And yes, I know its always best to wipe right away so you can see your results as you go. My car is in great shape and always garaged so I tend to prefer products that let me do a quick maintenance polish as quick as possible. That...

Polish you can let dry before wiping?

I often find myself using AIO's for minor correction work not because I don't plan on using a LSP but because I can do at least a few panels before wiping without giving myself a hard time with removal. Trying this with ultimate polish, for instance, would be a nightmare. So my question is, are...

Looking to upgrade from the PC

I recently went from a PC to a rupes 21. I wouldn't say its a MASSIVE upgrade but its definitely smoother and its a nicer shape to hold. I'm definitely less fatigued after finishing a car and I get done maybe slightly quicker. I put a 3" plate on my PC and use it for the tight stuff now. Perfect...

Keep on marring my paint after polishing

I've had this issue in the past. Most of my details are AIO's. I just go over the car with some detail spray after wiping. It seems to remove most if not all of the residue and provides some lubrication so you're not risking marring.

    Spot his mistakes

I was thinking this too. Probably getting it detailed soon so he doesn't care.

I think I noticed maybe one or two mistakes but for the most part his technique was pretty sound

Should I polish a fairly new car before waxing?

Why not just use some sort of all in one? I don't even bother with doing much of a dedicated waxing step anymore. If you're going to be waxing by machine you may as well use an all in one and polish it at the same time. It's no extra work and you can still put some spray wax or something on top...

Looking to upgrade from a PC

Last question. When you guys say to put a 3" backing plate on the PC are you referring to using the 2 7/8" plate with 3" pads or the 3.5" plate with 4" pads? I think using 3" pads would be a bit more ideal if I want to use my PC as a dedicated tight spot polisher but the problem is that 3" pads...

Looking to upgrade from a PC

Thanks for the replies everyone. I found someone locally who is selling a lightly used rupes 21 for a great price because they're buying the mark 2. Any issues with the 21 on tight areas and curved panels? I'll likely be using it with a 5" backing plate for mostly light to medium correction...

Looking to upgrade from a PC

Funny you say this. Doing a car on monday with an orange ccs pad is what prompted me to look into a new polisher. I had no idea that pads made such a difference. I almost exclusively do 1 steps when someone asks me to do their car. What kind of pad would you recommend for that? Right now I'm...

Looking to upgrade from a PC

I think I'm leaning more towards the 12 or 15 just because I've read they are a bit more versatile. Is it ok to use my current pads with the rupes? I have about 3 of each of the colors and don't want to invest in a whole new set of pads as well. Whats your take on 12 vs 15? Is the 12 a little...

Looking to upgrade from a PC

Whats the consensus on something more budget friendly like the MT300 or 10FX? Worthwhile upgrade from the PC or not? For reference, I do around 2 or 3 cars a week.

I have LC flats and ccs but I mostly use the flat pads.

Looking to upgrade from a PC

I mean, it does make my arms pretty sore after a while and my ears start to ring if I don't wear earplugs or headphones. It also doesn't have any sort of integrated handle or built in trigger like most of the other polishers out there. I just can't help but think that I could find a unit that is...
