How much more cut do you get when going from an 8mm to a 15mm throw dual action polisher?

I understand it might be hard to quantify but if using an 8mm dual action polisher with a pad that has a cut of 5 out of 8. Would you say that a 15mm throw dual action polisher would give a cut of 6, 7 or even an 8 out of 8 with the same pad? I'm trying to get a better understanding on how much...

Ideally, would it be best to buy a car on a sunny day?

It seems a sunny day is the best lighting for evaluating the exterior of a car. Should you only inspect a car before possibly buying on a sunny day? Likewise, would you consider it dishonest to purposely try to sell a car on a cloudy day?

What's your go to dual action polisher pad?

Lately, I have been really liking the Lake Country SDO CCS blue foam pad. It provides decent cut and finishes well.

Do you dust your daily driver?

I just barely run the duster over the exterior surfaces to gently lift any loose dust off the car. It's extremely gentle. I never use any pressure or even the weight of the duster against the paint. I also shake it out before and after using it each time.

Do you dust your daily driver?

I'm wondering who all here dusts (California duster, etc.) their daily driver? I find it helps to extend the time between maintenance washes.

What product do you use as a drying aid after maintenance washes?

Turtle Wax Wax & Dry. I'm blown away by how much gloss it adds every time I use it and how inexpensive it is. Plays very well with Optimum no rinse. Also, doesn't tend to attract dust like some other drying aids can do.

    Very specific MF question

Harbor Freight GRANT'S ultra-plush edgeless microfiber towels 12-Pack is a great deal for $6.99. Use the plush side for paint and the other side for windows. IMJOSHV on YouTube just did a review of them and he likes them. He checked the GSM and they are spot on to the advertised 350 grams per...

When do you know that you went as far as you should go with a paint correction?

Just a little more info. It's a daily driver with a hard GM clear coat. I used 3D One with a Lake Country blue SDO pad on the fenders for 2 passes at speed 4 and then followed up with a Meguiars 3 n 1 with a Lake Country orange SDO pad for 2 passes on speed 3 or 4. The results are pretty much...

When do you know that you went as far as you should go with a paint correction?

I understand that some panels may not result in perfection or even near perfection, how do you know when you reached the limit for paint correction on a given body panel? What are you looking for as far as indicators to not go any further?

The REAL reason I use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions (SHORT video)

That is impressive. Specifically, which Turtle Wax hybrid solutions products did you use on the Camaro in the video?

How to restore leather on steering wheel

First thing I would do is wipe it down with a microfiber cloth dampened with water. I had similar areas on my leather steering wheel that initially looked like wear spots but turned out to be just some grime that wiped off.

    Gloss Enhancing Sprays

Turtle Wax Wax & Dry is awesome stuff. I'm blown away by how much gloss it adds while not attracting any dust like some of the other options can do.

No name/replica foam gun ??? (Garden hose style)

I've been looking at the SwiftJet, Gilmour and Adam's premium foam guns. They all look like they will do a good job. One thing to note is that a garden hose style foam gun should be treated more as a soap dispenser in that you should agitate the soap on the car with a microfiber wash mitt or pad...

Is it best to keep an iron remover off of plastic trim when rinsing it off the vehicle?

I know you're not supposed to put an iron remover on plastic trim. Is it best to keep an iron remover from running over plastic trim when rinsing it off as well or is it not much of an issue when it's diluted with water as it rinses off the vehicle?

Stains from APC degreaser not coming off paint

Was the APC diluted or used full strength? You might try a water spot remover such as the one from Chemical Guys. Some things only come off with a chemical decontamination.

    Failing today

The pad is more important than the compound. 3D One will be able to do the job with the right pad. If you haven't seen any results yet than your dealing with a hard clear coat. I would try either a Lake Country blue SDO/HDO foam pad or the Buff and Shine Uro microfiber pad. If your worried about...

Anyone use Batoka cordless portable polisher?

I spent a lot of time looking at the various budget cordless dual action polisher. I found that most of the 12 volt ones are more for applying wax and maybe some light polishing. The exception to this would be the Batoca S2 dual action polisher which comes with two 12 volt 5 amp batteries. I've...

Chemical Guys Hex Logic use the same color codes as Buff N Shine flat foam pads?

I read that the Chemical Guys Hex Logic pads are made by Buff N Shine and use the same colors as the Buff N Shine flat foam pads. If that's the case, then why does Hex Logic call the green as heavy polishing and the white as regular polishing, but Buff N Shine says that the white is heavy...

Do you find the Lake Country SDO orange pads to be on the soft side?

I understand the firmness of the pad doesn't tell everything, but my Lake Country SDO orange pad feels softer than a Buff n Shine green foam flat polishing pad. I'm confused in that Lake Country gives the SDO/HDO orange pad a cut of 6 out of 10 and a finish of 9 out of 10. Do you guys find the...
