Could you possibly have put more in before winter storage? That sometimes helps to avoid "flat spots" when sitting for long periods.

Is this stuff or the P21 gel that much better than what he's already tried??? "tried using Mequairs Hot Rims Wheel cleaner and than tried the DP Gel Wheel cleaner" with agitation.

Have you tried "agitating" it while it was soaking. Maybe with a soft bristle toothbrush?

That's a "machined" rim. To be restored to "like new", it'll need to be put on a wheel lathe, then re-cleared. $150-$175 each. Or, you could remove clear yourself and maybe polish out the damage.

I don't know of any in particular. Sorry. Search function would be your best bet. If the cleaner has got to be aggressive enough to remove "baked in" stains, then it's probably in the clear coat, and it's damaged already. If you're wanting to "save" the clear, start with a mild and move to...

Yes, those are safe, but it doesn't sound like either of those (gel, spray) are going to be effective on that kind of damage. I know there are some other more aggressive wheel cleaners you can try. Got any pics of the damage?

If you've tried all the "safe for clear coat" cleaners, you could try wet sanding. Is damage on the face in the spoke area or inside the barrel? Worst case, remove clear, repaint/re-clear. Best case, try one of the wheel cleaners recommended here first. Harsh or not.

What kind of wheels are they? OEM, aftermarket, chrome, polished? etc.

Thanks for the replies. I've read the comments on the safety/ineffectiveness of the P21 spray/gel on certain applications, I just didn't know how effective it would be on this type of damage, i.e. try it again, let it soak, etc. I'll try ya'lls (yes, I said ya'lls :D) suggestions.

I doubt he'd know what it was, but I'll try and find out. I was really expecting the P21 gel to knock it out. Maybe I just didn't leave it on/agitate it enough ???

I'm reconditioning the face of these wheels, and I'd like the inside to be restored as well. The customers "detail guy" :D had been using something harsh to clean his wheels (Cayman) and it eventually caused the clear coat to peel (that's what I'm repairing). I've washed them with Zaino car...
