    The simple question!!

I don't really get the high end show cars that need 40 hrs of correction. I seem to get the daily drivers and the soccer mom minivans. Of course I'll ask what their concerns are, but I really just try to make the biggest difference. Example, I did this truck the other day Firehouse Mobile...

To those using PayPal to aceept customer payments

She has some good points for sure and sounds like she was definitely taken for a ride. I've been using PayPal since day one and have had no issues. I did have my account hacked once (got my info by hacking my Netflix account) and a phone call to customer service got it fixed immediately and the...

    Griots Garage Boss System Questions

I use the BOSS system pretty much exclusively. I use all Griots DA's, and yes you can get them to stall on concave surfaces. I run a G6 with the 3" HD plate or sometimes my G21 with the inter-flex pad as long as the curves are not to deep. It's a technique you have to get a feel for. I think...

How much would you charge for applying Aquapel?

I'm at $65 for clay, waterspot removal and Griot's Garage Glass Sealant, glass protectant, windshield sealant on all glass and side mirrors. Takes around 45 min to do. All glass gets a polish as I'm doing the paint and I use 3M Glass Cleaner and Protector as a standard. Very hydrophobic and...

    RV: How Many Pads?

It's going to depend on what the condition is of the paint/gel coat. If it's in really good shape with no oxidation, I would say at least 8. If its badly oxidized you may need 20+. I just used 18 on just the cab of a semi...2006 Mack E7-460 Semi SEVERE OXIDATION You'll pull off a lot of residue...

2006 Mack E7-460 Semi SEVERE OXIDATION

Had a call from a local construction company to buff out a truck they just bought. Said it had a bit of faded paint and wanted the ghosting removed on the doors from the old decals. Yeah....so several hours and 18 pads (mix of 6"3" and 2") I got it looking great! There is lots of crazing and...

Foaming Iron Remover Technique - GG Roadshow Class

The Iron and Fallout Remover bottle was threaded directly to the new Griot's Foam Cannon and proportioned though the cannons metering tip in the pickup tube. Very nice system. No Poly Gloss applied in this demo. We did use it on a Corvette and it left a great high gloss, hydrophobic finsh...

Foaming Iron Remover Technique - GG Roadshow Class

Hey....I know that truck! Thought it was pretty clean...the color doesn't lie I guess. Not pictured but the tailgate was pure purple from all the contaminates dissolving off. Looks to be a good system..gonna have to pick it up soon. Mike

    How many pads?: Discussion!!

I will use 6-8 pads on say a standard size sedan. I'll give the pad a spritz of a detailer spray and put 4-6 dots of product then go for it. I've been doing this for years and have Griot's pads (all I use) that are 4 years old that look and perform like new. Saving money on pad replacement for...

Grease a new G6 or G3 before first use?

Everything Visitor said....:iagree: As far as grease, I've never had an issue with my G6 x2 (one with 5" vent plate, one with 3" HD plate), G21 or my G3 (with 2" plate) in the last 4 years. Haven't had to change brushes out yet either:dblthumb2:

How to work by hand - tools of the trade by Mike Phillips

I'll routinely do really tight or small areas by hand (inside door handles for example). I prefer to use hand applicators for paste waxes and some sealants. Just feels right and I think gives better coverage than via machine. Mike

Any way to help cracked leather?

Nope...nothing will repair the cracks in any way other than a re-upholstery shop...BUT starting a good conditioner regimen will slow down and may stop further cracking by making the leather more supple / less brittle. I'd start with a thorough cleaning with a good leather cleaner, I use Griot?s...

My thoughts on the Tacoma, WA / Griot's Garage Roadshow Class

I attended the second day of the Tacoma Roadshow Class on 7-28. It was a small class, 10 of us so I knew there would be A LOT of hands-on time and I was so right. Started off with an impromptu meet and greet in the parking lot as people showed up. Mike Phillips and Jeff Brown came out and...

    Can't clean AIO from pads?!?

I soak them down with Megs Super Degreaser for 15 min or so after use and rinse them out with a hose with a jet nozzle or carefully with my elect PW....them wash in a APC solution in the tumble washer. Comes out looking new everytime. I think key is not oversaturating with product. I go 1 pad...

Gross! What's the dirtiest car you have ever seen?

This was a Taurus wagon that had a family of 4 living in it for a few months. I took out 5 garbage bags of garbage before the video. The smell was......abundant. Firehouse Mobile Detail - Severely Dirty Interior example | Facebook Mike
