Mystery Box is BACK and BETTER Than EVER!

I like a good mystery, but I had to pass on the boxes this time. I'm sure the glass cleaning supplies I ordered will keep me happy. Thanks for the discount and the free stuff! :xyxthumbs: Not to spoil the fun, but could there be a vague hint as to the contents? Interior, Exterior, Paint, Glass...

The old California Duster! Questions from client

I'd look into gravel road dust control options for your area. They make a big difference in dusting, and are beneficial to road maintenance, too. You may be able to get a discount if you can get some neighbors to go with the same contractor. Dust: Don't Eat It! Control It!

Step by step with 1983 VW Vanagon

Should any special precautions be taken with Iron X around the rusty chips in the first photo? Kristian, I don't know your plans for the van, but being white paint, you might be able to have that repainted with good results, especially if it's a smaller panel.

    Trying to scam me buddy?

That's a little too much coincidence for me to believe. I see Paul@Autogeek is taking a look at the thread. You guys may want to forward those emails to him or someone else at AG. It's possible that someone has been snooping around their system. Make sure you send the entire email so they have...

    Simple DIY detailing advice?

Starting to get like driving on ice up in here yo. Lots of good advice has been offered. I agree that starting with the basics makes more sense than detailing overload, but I also agree that the OP should be encouraged to look at the wide range of options. Unless something prohibits its use, I...

    Polishing is back breaking

I don't find myself leaning much, as I can reach to the center of a roof while one-handing my polisher, and the 4' length of the platform makes it easy to walk along the side of the vehicle for a better position. If you have shorter arms, that may not be possible. I'm not sure what practical...

    Polishing is back breaking

I've stood on both, and used the AP-30 for car detailing and construction work. IMO, it's a better product. The AP-20 platform much smaller, and it isn't as stable when standing at an angle, as a person would be when working on a car roof. The increased weight rating and size translates into...

    Polishing is back breaking

Buy a Werner AP-30 Aluminum Pro Deck Work Platform. Home Depot usually has them in-store for $65. Don't skimp and buy the smaller AP-20, and don't buy the flimsier Gorilla product. I bought mine for working on my truck, but I like it so much I use it for cars, too.

    Simple DIY detailing advice?

I've never seen a pressure washed car come away as clean as a hand washed one. There's always at least a slight film of road grime on the lower portions, if not the entire car. Once the chunks are removed, it's hard to beat hand washing for fully removing that film layer. IME, a pressure washer...

    Simple DIY detailing advice?

Yep. It's really a conditional process. I don't do anything to the paint just for the sake of saying I did it, like applying sealant weekly, or changing motor oil every 3000k. If it's needed, it's needed; the baggie test makes it easy to tell when it's decon time, and a swirl check determines...

    Simple DIY detailing advice?

Unless you plan to get into a lot of relatively loose contamination like mud, I don't see that much value in using a consumer grade pressure washer. They're rarely heated or have very high output volume, so the usual road film is unimpressed by their puny abilities. Nice to have, but not nearly...
