Frustrated with dusting of Meg's M105. Alternative options?

Thanks again for all the suggestions regarding the M105. A follow-up question; is there anything that can be done regarding the same dusting problem with the M205? I've tried slightly dampening the pad (during the priming process) with a quick detailer. It helped a little but still requires to...

Preferred methods for romoving light to moderate oxidation...

Hello Paul, thanks for the suggestions. I already returned the car so no pics. Your thoughts on checking the paint thickness seem like a good idea. However in this particular case, because the paint has been in the intense sunlight for so many years, I am just not comfortable tampering with it...

Preferred methods for romoving light to moderate oxidation...

Is it ever possible in a base/clear coat finish for the base coat (color) to oxidize underneath the clear coat? If so, this would substantially complicate the remedy I suppose.

Preferred methods for romoving light to moderate oxidation...

Its a friends '02 Eldorado, black. The oxidation is mostly on the hood. Years in the brutal Vegas sunshine have indeed taken a toll. I have tried an AIO (not sold here so I am prohibited from mentioning), as well as another commonly available (OTC) polish, applied using Griots 6 in. D.A. with a...

Preferred methods for romoving light to moderate oxidation...

Yea, I too have tried a couple of AIO's. In my experience they did not truly "fix" the oxidation. They simply masked it until the AIO wore off, grrrrrr!

Preferred methods for romoving light to moderate oxidation...

What are some of the "tried & true" methods for removing light to moderate paint oxidation. Are there different techniques for single stage paint versus base coat/clear coat?

Frustrated with dusting of Meg's M105. Alternative options?

Hey guys... thanks for all the replies. Looks like there are some good options out here!

Whats the difference between these 2 products?

Hey JustJesus, thanks for the response. Yea, this is very much in-line with my other post. So far, I am liking what I am hearing about Megs D300. It may be just what I am looking for. However, when I came across this Diamond Cut Compound and read the label, it too sounded pretty good as it...

Whats the difference between these 2 products?

Meguiars M105 and Meguiars Diamond Cut Compound 2.0? The Diamond cut advertises low dusting and less spatter/slinging and lists for about $10.00 less than M105. However, they are both listed at a "10" on Mequiars "abrasive scale" listed on the product bottle.

Frustrated with dusting of Meg's M105. Alternative options?

I love the performance of Meguiars M105. However, the dusting is a bit much. I suppose perhaps M105 is a relatively "old" formula, but because it works well otherwise, there is little motivation to address the dusting by changing the formula. Well, what are some other alternatives that perform...

When should a compound be used instead of a polish?

So, when should a rubbing compound be used instead of a polish? What exactly is the difference between the two? Would my understanding be correct if I assume a rubbing compound is strictly for fixing a light to moderate oxidation? Where as a polish is limited to removing/minimizing scratches and...

    Sealant comparison

Just curious. I have read through many, but not all of the 32 pages (so far) of this rather lengthy review. Why aren't the product manufacturers commenting more on the results of their product performance??? Some results seemed quite disappointing when compared to product claims. The original...

    Wax and water spots question..

Interesting article there by Mike Phillips on water beading vs. sheeting and Meguiars attempt to educate the industry. Perhaps it's time for a reboot from Mguiars on this. It would be a major P.R effort but the end result would be worth it. It sounds like Meguiars at some point said "you can't...

    Panels heating up during polishing

Well, polishing is an abrasive procedure so some heating is inevitable. How much depends on several factors. The surface temperature of the panel prior to the polishing process, the ambient temperature of the workplace, the polishing pad, the type of polish, the speed or RPM of the machine and...

    Wax and water spots question..

Nah. I can see it already. Everyone and their brother-in-law will be asking me to do a 50/50 with this and that. I don't mind doing some online research, but I do not intend to become a part time research engineer and buy all sorts of products to test. That is unless there is something more in...

    Wax and water spots question..

Although I can also respect the temptation for someone to "correct" any misunderstandings regarding their origin.

    Wax and water spots question..

Well for me, the specific "science" behind the actual source of these water spots is of little concern. The focal point for me is weather or not LSP's contribute to their appearance and methods of removing/preventing them.

    Wax and water spots question..

Is there hope from Meguiars??? So, I just came across a product from Meguiars called Extreme Marine Water Spot Detailer. Anyone with first hand experience with this product? How well does it work? A very interesting characteristic it boasts is that it PREVENTS future water spots...hmmm. Would...

Quik Review - Meguiars Extreme Marine Water Spot Detailer

Hey Eldorado2k, what a surprise seeing you in this thread! So, a quick question regarding the Meguiars water spot detailer, does it wind up removing any previously applied wax or other LSP? Thanks in advance!
