    Cleaning/Polishing Stainless Steel

Hi all, I have a full stainless exhaust system on my motorcycle that looks really rough from baked on road grime since 2003. I polished one pipe back when I got the bike 3 years ago and it took forever using 0000 steel wool and polish. I now have a PCXP and am looking for a good product/method...

    Other hobbies

Um... lets see... I've been wakeboarding for about 14 years so I guess that qualifies. I love anything motorcycle, building them, restoring them, painting them, trackdays, dirt trails, even regular maintenance is relaxing when I'm not spilling hot oil all over my arm. Another hobby is...

What r your plans for this weekend?

Hopefully Saturday will start off with an early morning "dawn patrol" wakeboard set on the lake. Then home to start painting my motorcycle that I've been trying to get done for 8 months. In between coats I need to fix the broken belt on the lawnmower so I can mow the yard. Sunday I'll continue...

    How to stay cool.

I work at an architectural firm and we have a rep from BAF come and do a lunch seminar with us. I have to say it was one of the most interesting seminars I've been to. The company as a whole seems to have a "lets have fun with this" attitude, as portrayed by choosing a name such as "Big Ass...

    Hard Leather.

Hi guys, first time really asking a question here. I have a mustang convertible with leather interior (at least I think its leather, doesn't much feel like it anymore) and it has gotten very hard and looks pretty bad. Is there any way to condition and soften the leather back up or am I out of luck?

    Is there a boat section?

If you have tips on detailing a boat I'd love to hear them. My main problem right now is removing some mildew stains from the vinyl without destroying it. I'm very limited in products I can use so any help would be much appreciated.

    claying truck bed covers

I would think if the tonneau cover is smooth paint matched to the truck then yes I would treat it just like a hood or trunk lid. However, if its one of the textured, hard plastic or soft vinyl ones I would use a material specific cleaner and protectant.

    wet sanding and reclearing.

Last September I sprayed a motorcycle blue pearl metallic and white pearl for a friend. The front fender got a few bugs in it after 2 coats of clear so I sanded it lightly with some 600 grit, wiped it with wax and grease remover and shot two more coats of clear on it and it turned out...

    Detailing a boat questions

I think it was a good outcome. Let him do a halfway job and see how much work it is then maybe he will appreciate the great job you would have done.

    Detailing a boat questions

What are you going to be using on the vinyl seats? The reason I ask is because a pamphlet came with my boat and outlined what to use on the vinyl. For mine (G&T marine vinyl) it stated to only use Fantastik to clean and Formula 303 to protect. However, that was 5 years ago and other specialty...

    Hood to be repainted....

Wait time can vary depending on what brand clear the body shop uses, their mixture ratio and how the paint is cured. Some bodyshops will put a coat of cheap wax or glaze on after they cut and buff... sometimes this is to hide their shoddy polishing skills. I personally use Southern Polyurethanes...

Never detailed before, need supplies, have to buy in stages.

Thanks guys. I just bought a wash mitt, not an expensive one, but it is brand new. Don't have a car wash specific bucket, but plan on using 2 buckets from now on. I also just bought a wheel brush and some smaller brushes for the crevices. Thanks for the advice killr... I absolutely believe in...

Never detailed before, need supplies, have to buy in stages.

Hi all, sorry for the long title, but want to get the point across so people don't waste their time clicking the link for "yet another noob." Anyway, I've never detailed anything before, in fact, I'm a detailer's worst nightmare. However, I am in the 12 step program to cure that, ok, not...

Who said you need a fancy smancy polisher to do paint correction?

I think this would be good for doing small spaces on a motorcycle, will probably pick up a mini ball when it comes time to polish up my bike. Thanks for the info.

    New from Mississippi

Thanks for the welcome. Mike, yeah, I guess I got carried away with my post. I tend to just lurk on forums and not ask questions because I figure any question I ask has probably been asked and answered at least 100 times, so I search and read instead. My boat:

    New from Mississippi

Hi all, new on here. Great forum! I've never actually done a complete detail myself, but am tired of being let down by the "detailers" here in town. I'm mainly here to absorb as much info as I can since I will be detailing my car, a '99 Mustang GT convertible and my boat, an '04 Supra Launch...
