    Mike phillips..school me on painting

This is correct. First car I ever painted was a metallic silver, and I striped it up. Later I learned to move my gun further away and be sure to mix it up while spraying to avoid them :)

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

Thanks for the great reply. I have been reading and have learned alot. After reading thre page on polished vs. paint sealants, I too agree that the sealant is the best option. I will definitely pick up one of those. Right now, I'm trying to figure out the difference between the flat pads and...

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

Mike, this is a quote from the other thread I moved here- Thanks for the concern Mike, and I want to hit on a couple of points. While I cannot be certain how many times this car has been cut, I can only speculate and hope for the best. I'm pretty sure a rotary was not taken to the car in the...

Mike, and anyone else who would like to reply- Can you please reply in the thread I started in the cutting and buffing section? Thanks http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/wet-sanding-cutting-buffing/56654-help-me-fix-corvette-need-recommendations-products.html

Read the original thread I linked to. It explains it pretty well.

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

Thanks. I have been reading but I must have missed it or have not gotten to it yet. The condition of the hood looks like "die back" if you ask me. In other words, not letting the first coat of clear flash (dry)fully before the second coat is applied, thus trapping the solvents (reducer)...

Looking at the "go with the flow chart", would this be considered neglected paint, or moderate imperfections?

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

Also to note, you have to realize to I drive this car almost daily, and the conditions couldnt be worse for the paint. Most days it is parked in a parking lot at work from 5am to 3 - 4pm in the afternoon, and the sun is bearing down. I'm not fortunate to have a garage at home either, but I do...

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

Folks, I realize my original post in this thread is 8 miles long lol, but if you read, all these details are in there. Regarding the hood (and headlight covers for that matter), here is a little more detail: About three years ago a woman backed up on my hood with a jeep cherokee in the...

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

When we tested the hood, it seemed to have about two or three times the amount of clear than it should. It is base/clear. Not single stage. It's almost like the haziness seen in those pictures isn't only on the sureface, but rather all the way through. This last guy did wet sand the hood, so...

Help me fix this Corvette..Need recommendations for products

I'd like some help from you guys on some products for my car. MY car was in a terrible situation where it was hit three different times by two different detail guys and we are now left with what you will see in the following pics. There has been a thread about this over in the Ask The Expert...

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

The red circles didn;t show up well, but if you look close you can see them in a couple pics. There were also noticeable swirls on the top, but I was unable to get those in pics. It would take parking it under a light again.

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

Here are the updated pics. It seems that he did get some of the swirls out, but not all of them. He put some of his own in..Notice the small 3" or 4" pad trails. Also prevalent are small scratches (circled in red in some pictures). I guess he got a piece of sand in his sandpaper or something...

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

To me, if I still see some of the swirls that were there before, I doubt the last detailer did anything much more to the paint. Honestly, I don't think he was aggressive enough. Bryan charged me $50 to check it, and that is fair. I am not going to drive (2.5 hours one way) all the way back to...

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

I know I have a problem here guys. Unfortunately, I didn't have much control of the situation, as some of you know. My hands were tied. First of all, lets back up to what Bryan did. I drove my car up to the Atlanta area about three weeks ago and got him to test the paint. When I pulled into...

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

This is exactly what it looks like, but not nearly as far as this one has been sanded. The high spots have barely been touched, and the gloss in the lower areas is pretty prevalent.

I think I'm a new candidate for "Horrendous"

I'm going to take it out this afternoon and get some more pictures of it. This latest detailer waxed it like crazy, so I have got to get as much of that off as possible. Any hints on how to best do that would be great. I don't really think the paint needs to be checked again, because he did...
