How I pass the time when it is too cold to be outside detailing .....

The kudos are much appreciated folks. Much like my detailing skills, there are many other rod builders who's work I find very humbling. I've been doing this since I was in high school some 30+ years ago. I put myself through college & grad school selling custom made fly rods to folks who had...

How I pass the time when it is too cold to be outside detailing .....

When the temps dip down into the teens here in southcentral PA, you can usually find me holed up in my basement workshop turning out custom fishing rods and baits for chasing smallmouth bass. There are a lot of similarities for me between detailing vehicles and custom rod/bait making. Both are...

    Newbie wax questions.

As a fellow Grand Cherokee owner (2001, 2004 & 2007) I can tell you that you need not spend anywhere near $100 to make the paint on your 2003 look great. Any number of waxes for less than even $50 will look good on the pewter paint. Paste or liquid is really a personal preference. Consider...

What to do when its too cold to detail?

When it is too cold to detail, I build custom fishing rods and make custom baits while looking forward to warmer days.

    18th B-DAY Present

Beautiful job on the dakota sir. The kid is going to be very happy! As a slight aside, just because an 18yr old is "given" a nice vehicle for their 18th birthday doesn't necessarily mean it was simply handed to them. My oldest girl was "given" a new Mustang GT on her 18th birthday. She...

Clearing snow without creating swirl marks

Not sure about the OP's home state of VA however here in PA that is illegal. Not that I've ever seen it enforced mind you but it is something to consider. I don't really know of a good answer other than parking in a garage. No matter how hard I try to avoid it, there always seems to be at...

Headlight restoration- How do you guys make it look so easy?

Stopping the wet sanding at 1200 grit may be the reason for your issues. I am not positive but don't believe that ultimate compound is capable of removing 1200 grit sanding marks. I like to go down to at least 2000, if not 3000, before starting the buffing with UC, followed by M205 and finally...

    convertible top care

I use the Ragtopp cleaner and protectant on my 09 Mustang's cloth top and pretty much follow the steps outlined by CEE DOG above. I do use the non-aerosol version of the protectant now that is readily available and find it much easier to control over spray. Haven't really used anything else...
