Thanks for the link. It must be my crappy photos - in person the swirls look like the cobwebs that Mike describes as caused by wear and tear and poor washing technique. My washing has gotten better lately so I'm probably partly to blame for past sins.

Thanks, r4ider. As for the swirls, I did have the car washed and waxed by a detailer about 3 times before trying it myself. If the swirls were caused by their carelessness - I'm not enough of an expert to say so myself - then that's disturbing.

Thanks, guys! R4ider, do you have any specific recommendations for pads and compounds for the hard clear of the Audi? I certainly felt like I could have used something stronger for the swirls. Working on getting more pics up. Something's not cooperating....

Same thing happened to me today. Washed, clayed, compound polish and the ran out of daylight. Car is outside now and it rained. Would a QD on each panel do the trick before going to fine polishing? Or maybe clay again? Or do I need to do a traditional wash and dry before moving on to fine...

That's a good question. For me, it means a wash every week that gets spray-on wax during the drying. For bird bombs, etc. I use an MF towel and some QD spray. The interior is on an as-needed basis. I can't keep up with my wife's interior (she thinks I'm nuts) so hers gets the...

Are the spots raised like little craters you can feel? I have the same problem (only one though) on a '13 A5. Hope you can find a solution. I'm going to get some detailing help from a pro soon so I'll let you know what I find out.
