    Detail king classes?

What is your goal? I've never attended their classes, but they appear to be aimed at production detailing vs high end paint correction.

When to wash during a full correction

I typically just blow a car off with the air compressor. I will use a 10% IPA wipe down before a jeweling step only to make sure I do not introduce any dust or foreign substance that may be left on the paint or in body panel joint into this step, but I seldom do jeweling.

Why no pink 4" CCS pads?

I'm tempted to cut down some of the 5.5". I was just using pink pads last weekend and was wishing I had some 4".

Glazes & Jewels = Waste of time

I don't use glazes, but I do jewel from time to time. In fact, I just jeweled my wife's 2010 Camaro last weekend. Is the difference really noticeable when you already have a great finish from a good polish? I don't notice a lot, if any, difference in the garage with the naked eye. IMO when...

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

The ones I used on this detail were 6.5", but I also have 5.5".

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Jeweling is a debated term we use. It is accomplished by taking an ultra soft pad (gold) and an ultra fine polish (SF4500) to get the last bit of shine out of paint. You start by running at a hi speed to break the polish down and finish at a slower speed with very little pressure for that...

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Thanks Mike! Yeah, I need to start uploading into the gallery. I should have switched to the smaller pads, but I decided to start the project with 6.5" and being bullheaded I stuck with them throughout (except in the tight spots where I used 3" on my PC). Not bad for a 4 year old car, but...

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Definitely an easier way to do it! Although the results were nice, my shoulders are sore from working the Flex.

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Thanks, it was an enjoyable project for the most part. The weather was nice and my wife wanted to take her baby out so she was complaining about me starting it when I did. At least when a customer drops their car off they know when they will get it back and don't bug you every time you stop to...

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Thanks. As for the pads, I was using 6.5", most of my 5.5" pads were drying from a couple recent jobs, so I reached back on the shelf and pulled the 6.5" pads out. The work pretty good with the Flex anyway, would have been a little easier to control with the 5.5".

    newbie looking for some advice

The machines I use are different than what you are asking about, but I just want to throw this out there. You mentioned the Rupes and the GG 3", you way of thinking is spot on (IMO) and I'm sure you would be happy with these. I use the Flex 3401 and the PC 7424XP. I have the PC set up...

    Awkward Conversation

I would think that anyone legit business trying to build a network would do a better job of communicating intensions. To send a text, or call without letting you know who they are or what he purpose of the call/text is doesn't sound like anyone I would want to be associated with. I'm not taking...

Wanting new wax, narrowed it down so help me decide

I have BFMS on my sheer silver truck. It's been on for over a month, sitting outside through 3 snow storms (well snowfalls anyway). I had to go pick up a few things today, when I was walking back to the truck after leaving the store and was amazed at how the truck still looked dripping wet as...

Gave the Wife Some Jeweling for Christmas

Had a couple spare days so I decided to jewel my wife's Camaro with my Flex 3401. Using a DA for jeweling has been discussed on here a few times, but until now I have never tried my hand at it. Well the car needed a little PDR after our son tipped a bike into the fender. Since I had to buff...

grit guard for the home depot white 5gal bucket

I have 4 of the homer (orange buckets), the grit guard fits 3 of them. The 4th bucket is just a bit smaller at the bottom so the grit guard sits up about an inch off the bottom so that has become my bucket for wheel cleaning. You can take your grit guards to Hom Depot and just try them until...
