Rupes Mille vs 3401 - UPDATED Thoughts

    1. Have a look at this chart - Foam vs. Microfiber vs. Wool: Polishing Pad Comparisons - RUPES USA and this video for info on the various pads and relative performance comparisons YouTube 2. In most cases any combo of blue for cutting/yellow for finishing (regardless of material) is going to be...

Have a problem with a RUPES polisher or product?

BUMP! The info in the first post of this thread has been updated with current contact information and new policies. A lot has changed in the 3 years since RUPES purchased Cyclo Toolmakers to form RUPES USA. New Colorado Headquarters for all US operations. New training center. Expanded...

    2 polishers down!!!

For future reference - in case anyone stubles on this thread. For some reason I am unable to add a signature here on AGO and can't edit the sticky at the top of the RUPES section: Contacts at RUPES USA: Information can always be found at Home - RUPES USA for our customers in North America...

    2 polishers down!!!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Where did you send it for repair? We don't have an official repair center in Canada (just for the record) but, I apologize for not getting your PM, my box is currently full. I cannot comment on Todds, but see this post - Have a problem with a RUPES polisher or...

    Rupes LHR15ES stopped working

Couple of odd things going on here that need clarification - 1) That is an orange trigger tool, so it couldn't only be "a couple" (I take that to mean 2) years old. The last of the orange triggers were 2014 models. At best its 4 years old now. 2) We don't deny coverage over the phone - if a...

    IBrid- Cool factor of 10

Bingo. The 3mm attachment is designed primarily for sanding purposes (with the PSA plate and P2000/P3000 daisy discs). I've also used it with the brushes for slightly less aggressive cleaning where the rotary was too much but a small amount of agitation would help - around window controls and...

    Devil tuning.? Any thoughts

Effectively defeats the purpose (on the mini specifically) of the design. If you notice the tool has almost no overhang, thats so you can work right up to the edges of surfaces that have a perpendicular surface in the way. Adding a handle would reduce reach into those corners by a few inches.

Rupes LHR 21ES Bigfoot vs LHR21 MarkII

Aside from the things you listed there is a rubberized grip on the underside of the Mark II head, the chassis is also redesigned for the new motor - its not outwardly obvious unless you look at a Mark II and an ES side by side, and even then its very subtle. The housing is a little more...

    Rupes MkII backing plate explosion

Well, thats definitely a first and I'm sorry for the delay in seeing this.... SEMA has me running around like crazy so my time to jump online and check the forums is pretty limited. Always best to contact us direct if you need help as we don't check the boards ever single day. That being said...

Rupes mark ii 15 stalling badly

Answer is going to be pretty much the same as above - hard to say. Neither will stall on a flat surface, it would be entirely dependent on the degree of the curve or protrusion causing the stall, speed of the tool, pad being used, compound being used (some compounds lube the surface more than...

Rupes mark ii 15 stalling badly

Hard question to answer without seeing it in person - will depend entirely on the depth of the curve or protrusion thats causing a rotation stall, your technique, etc. If its just on a flat surface, no, but you honestly shouldn't see stalling with any of the tools listed on a flat panel unless...

Have a problem with a RUPES polisher or product?

Marina - its covered by a 1 year warranty against manufactures defects regardless of how much use, however a cosmetic issue (you said smudges on the body in your first message) without documentation of it is hard to do much with. If you have pictures of it please feel free to PM them to me or...

New Rupes Micro Fiber pad fly off

All of our plates are manufactured in Milan in the same factory, same batches, and literally thousands at the same time, so there wouldn't be any variance in location. A plate in Europe would be the same as a plate in Asia or the US. The number is a batch/date code, but they don't get lumped...

    Dumb for first polisher?

Really depends - the nano is going to be far more versatile, but costs far more. You can still get a lot done with the LHR75E mini so it comes down to budget and how crazy you want to get about polishing intricate details. Mini runs 100mm pads Nano runs 40 and 70mm pads

    TA50 Sander/Polisher

The TA50 is the tool its always been, so no changes from when Mike wrote his book. Of course we still designate the TA50 as a sander and thats what its designed to be, however there are plenty of people who deploy it as a polisher in specific situations. The LD30 is an even smaller tool...

Rupes 500 ml Bottles Phased Out?

Yep... 500ml proved to be an unpopular size and was discontinued. We have the 250ml and 1 liter and with the launch of the nano 150ml, which is perfect if you only need a small amount.

New Rupes Micro Fiber pad fly off

There are only a few ways to reduce the grip of a backing plate like this: The hooks become clogged with a fiber from the loops being too soft/delicate or the plate is heated up, warping the structure of the hooks and causing them to lose their ability to grab the loops. If it happens...
