Don't confuse wattage for a measure of performance... wattage on power tools is simply a rating to quantify the capacity for consumption. It does not directly correlate to output or result on the working surface. A well engineered tool will have the capability to produce results with less watts...

Let us know if you need to replace that shroud - don't want rubber bits contaminating your work area. FWIW - from the factory the contact side (top) of the backing plate is lubricated, I generally add a tiny bit more each time I clean the tool. Pull the plate, run a light bead of lubrication...

So cool. Really shows the longevity of the tool. We occasionally get ones of similar vintage in that still run strong. Brush replacement, cleanup, oil and they go for another couple decades!
