12 Ways To Get More Auto Detailing Customers

I'm tracking now, thanks. You get a few well-known folks to start talking about your product, suddenly it's on everyone's radar. Nice avatar pic BTW, I love the RWB Porsches.

Steam cleaning the engine and undercarriage

I've used steam twice to clean engines. First one went well, second one (personal vehicle) I let the nozzle linger briefly on the power steering fluid reservoir and it melted the outer layer of the plastic. I didn't burn through the tank but it was enough to leave a dime-sized haze and...

How many of you use a MACHINE to WAX your vehicle?

I use my PC 7424 XP to apply wax--learned my technique from Mike's vids. Such a time saver. I will do tighter areas by hand to prevent wax staining trim pieces.

Proper way to use a foam gun?

Good strategy with the 'Free Sample' :xyxthumbs:...I'm assuming by the screen shot your overall intent is to compound/polish the car? I didn't see a wash mitt, two buckets/grit guards, pad cleaning solution and compound/polish on your list. If you already have these, great, I think you're good...

Proper way to use a foam gun?

:iagree: I use the "one panel at a time" method on my daily driver. Just foam up the car, use my wash mitt one panel at a time, clean it off in the water bucket and drive on. Makes cleaning a beater car that much easier.

Proper way to use a foam gun?

I would. It's not as mandatory as two buckets with grit guards and a quality microfiber wash mitt, but it does provide that much more lubricity when washing your vehicle. I have one and use it on my two garaged vehicles almost every wash. Just gives me even more piece of mind that I'm not...

What is your favorite Spray on Wax??

I've had a gallon of GG Spray Wax that I bought on sale a while ago that I've loved--I'm down to a spray bottle amount now. I would definitely reccomend it to anyone trying to find a good spray wax that protects and enhances gloss. In the interest of trying new products, I'm going to purchase...

12 Ways To Get More Auto Detailing Customers

This is a great write-up, very helpful! I always enjoy reading about how you guys have had success in detailing. It's nice to hear from the "guys on the ground" (to supplement all the how-to books out there). Question--Can you please elaborate on #6 'Influencers'? Maybe provide an example of...

    7424XP with flat pads

Ha, sorry, I rambled on my Flex plug... to answer your questions, Flex WILL save you a ton of time over the PC, but that's not the only benefit. In my experience, yes, they will obtain similar results but the time differences are fairly great. Again, in my experience having both, the Flex will...

    7424XP with flat pads

Hey Musclecar, in my opinion it really all depends on your buget. I started with the PC and have moved on to the Flex with no regrets. If it's in your buget and you feel comfortable with machine polishing, then go for it. There is a small learning curve (forced rotation, pad walking, speed...

1st day with my Flex 3401

I like to utilize all of the above... 6.5" on very large panels (quarter panels, hoods, etc.), then 5.5" and below depending on the size and contour of the panel. 5.5" seems to be the sweet spot for me, I really have to focus on technique when I go smaller or larger--just something I've observed...
