The tips have cleaned up nicely but the metal surrounding it is still pretty bad

I just did my first opti coat on a 1994 Porsche 911. It was very different because when applying it you can't see it. It doesn't haze. So you really need to take your time.

I too live in a area with very little shade. After drying the car I go around and inspect each panel and hit with a quick detail spray or ever a spray wax will be just fine

3m makes a adhesive remover. Spray and let soak for about 2 minutes. Then be gain to use a plastic razor blade to gently scrap the pin stripe off. You will need to re polish the area. If you don't have a plastic razor blade try clay. You will need to do several applications. BOL
