Considering a DIY Custom Paint Job on Mobile Van?

Note on PPG -DP primer, around 7 years ago PPG was forced to remove lead from this product. This was due to government regulations. Since then it is LFDP. I have used the old DP for 20+ years and never had a problem with rust thru from the back side and never had any paint lifting problems and I...

Considering a DIY Custom Paint Job on Mobile Van?

Dave, the way I've been taught a PPG training and the way I've been doing it for years - strip to bare metal, do all dent and other repairs- all ruff body work- I use a STINGER to put out all small dents. Next, prime with DP Epoxy Primer. All body filler is then put over top of that, NOT over the...

Considering a DIY Custom Paint Job on Mobile Van?

New-B here too, with detailing, but not auto body. Just some advice, watch what you're doing with your primer, know you said Cheap, but this is your foundation. Use a good epoxy primer over bare metal,or you'll have rust forming under it,as cheap primer may not be water proof. Something I learned...

    Wet-sanded through OEM clearcoat

Rolling tape or back taping means, having the tape already on your paper - I have a paper machine that puts the tape right on the paper- or put tape on edge of newspaper, you won't be laying that much clear to worry about having auto body-paper, put the tape edge where you want to end your seam...

    Wet-sanded through OEM clearcoat

New on AG. Don't want to bust your bubble, but from what I can see on the first pic, is the clear is way to gone. It's true , to do it right the whole panel should be cleared. If attempting to blend, try rolling back your tape edges and only blowing a little clear into the rolled edge. Also,on...

    Any Good auto body fourms?

Rust SUCKS!! If this rust is in the DOG LEG, it most likely came thur from the back side, most likely from fine dirt laying in the joint where the inner body panels meet. Can't really tell from pic because working from I-phone. First, if I am right , you need to wash all dirt out from front and...

    How to clean bare aluminum?

I use a lot of PPG products , I know they make a aluminum cleaner and aluminum prep to be used before clear-coat. Check if any of your local parts stores carry PPG.
